yeahhh so I really hope Randle breaks out because it's not looking like we'll get PG13 or Westbrook with what they got going on in OKC.

And you knwo what? I don't mind it. If we can lock Randle down at 16M-18M per year...I'm OK with that especially if he improves dramatically on the defensive end.

Also, if we're able to get rid of Clarkson and Deng somehow...then there's a way to get 2 superstars AND keep Randle.

I mean...if Randle really improves his 3-point shooting...then we wouldn't need to bring back Brook Lopez...right?

I'm ok with thinking about Lopez long term actually.

With TJ Warren signing a 4 year 50M rookie extension with the Suns, we kinda have a baseline of what Randle may demand in an extension. Oct. 16 is the deadline to get an extension done and when Magic was asked about it today, he quickly deflected the conversation and asked for the next question. I still believe he's not part of the core moving forward and will be used as trade fodder for a Deng dump or once the season ends, will be used as a piece to be traded for one of the 2018 FAs circa the CP3 route.

The 4/50 is the popular deal for sure. I'm thinking if Randle has a big year, he'll ask for more money something along the lines of 4/64 or so. If he takes the 4/50 he'd actually be a good value.

He's restricted, so there is no reason to mess with offseason flexibility right now. Strategically, I would explain that to him so it won't mess with his mind during the season.

Yea no pt in ext him now, its better for both side, randle shouldnt settle for less now and la shouldnt be in a rush even if randle settles for a 4/50, he could be less motivated and "settle" n of course make 18 off season more difficult, best thing for us would be moving jc for expiring and giving randle jc's $, that way randle can get a fatter contract sooner n we're still same position cap wise

could be some very interesting trade deadline and offseason movement as well, and sign and trade is always an option too.

if he'd sign long term for his cap hold, i think you do it. isn't that what a 4/50 would be, roughly? can't remember his exact hold number.

His hold number is 12.5ish million so yeah it's in that range. I wouldn't be opposed to it if he came out hot. That just means we're desperate to find a home for Deng and Clarkson by the time the summer rolls around.

If we shed Deng and Clarkson without taking back long-term money, we can get as low as roughly 36.5 million in cap responsibilities. That leaves 65 million which is exactly enough to sign LeBron and George or Westbrook and George.

only doing this if there's a trade lined up to move jc and/or deng for expiring.

Yeah, it's clear to me that clearing space isn't important. Secure talent at good prices, sort other things out later.

I dunno about that.. I dont think theyre trying to get Randle extended right now at more of a value price. Could f*** everything up IMO.
