    i'm still pissed about the d-lo trade mainly because it's fun to think about a backcourt of ball and d-lo

    but whatever. hopefully this group gets this team back to the top soon so i can forget all about it

    I'd be much saltier about this trade if we didn't fill out two of our starting positions with quality players. Replacing DAR and Mozgov with KCP and Brook is a huge step forward, especially considering how fitting the latter pair are with the rest of the starting 5.

    Hindsight always 20/20.

    true, but both lopez and kcp are one-year rentals as things stand.

    i've said many times that i will judge this trade based on russell's production and the lakers' ability to lure a max FA. if either a) russell doesn't improve or b) the lakers nab paul george or lebron, i'll shut up and declare rob and magic the winners. but if russell blossoms and we're left holding the FA bag again, i'll burn this place down!

    lol---I was maddest with the Eddie Jones trade, understood the Caron Butler but still sad, disappointed with the Shaq one. I'm kind of ambivalent about this one, I like his game and potential but he is kind of a j****** millennial, not even counting the Nick Young recording, but his demeanor as a whole, cringe worthy moments like claiming playing Walton in 2k, posting stupid things on socmed, etc

    You left out the team chemistry factor. What if ours is way better this season because Russ is gone and our guys didn’t like playing with him? Seems a real possibility to me. It will suck if he turns into a star and we let him go, but it won’t suck as much if we’re good anyway and play team ball and don’t make incredibly stupid and lazy turnovers at key moments in games.

    sure, but part of my point is that if he's successful somewhere else, we can't exactly pin all of the problems that were here on him.

    Of course Russell is not the cause of all recent Lakers related problems. We had a completely disfunctional ownership team, a dinosaur for a GM, a joke of a head coach, and a team full of low talent inexperienced players.

    But, the more I've learned about Russell's attitude behind the scenes, the more convinced I have become that trading him was a much needed addition by subtraction. Losing Mozgov, gaining Lopez, drafting Lonzo and signing KCP made it all the easier to swallow.
