What in the world happened to Ron? Are those 2 boulders next to him just creating an illusion or something?

He definitely looks thin. He also definitely looks smaller because he's next to two beefcakes.

He's looking pretty lean here too:

He started dropping weight when he was with the Knicks, but he looks considerably smaller than even then. Maybe he lost a little when he was sick in China, but I don't think it would've caused him to lose that much. Maybe he realized if he's trying to make a comeback he has to be lighter on his feet and quicker, because at 35 with that bulk, he won't make it anywhere.

I'm confused because just a few weeks ago when he was courtside at the Lakers game and Mike Trudell interviewed him during the game he look lighter of course but still looked strong and lean.

Now I see these pictures and he's gotten a lot thinner. What happened? I know he said he got sick in China, but are these pictures from a few days ago or are these old pictures?

NBA players always look thinner in person and next to 2 short bodybuilders would create the same visual too I would think.
When I saw Shaq in summer of '06 in LA, he didn't look like he had much body fat at all in person. And when I've seen Odom in person back around the same time he looked like Manute Bol skinny. Karl Malone when on the Lakers looked thin to me in person too. But Ron looks like he has less muscle mass then he did with us circa 2010 for sure.

He is thinner, but at the same time he's standing next to two pro bodybuilders. I mean, you have Flexatron who weighs around 240 at 5-9 or so... of course he's going to look thin next to him. Most people don't realize how big most modern pro bodybuilders really are.

I hate it. I hate where bodybuilding has gone. Call me old fashioned, but I loved the more balanced look. These guys now look like comic-book villains. Just ridiculous.

Of course no one will ever compare to Arnold. That dude was like a sculpture. I highly recommend the movie Pumping Iron for anyone interested in body sculpting. Generation Iron is alright, but it's a stark contrast to the classic.

I agree. I used to be a fan of bodybuilding. But I could see things going in the wrong direction with Lee Haney already... and then Dorian and eventually Ronnie really pushed it too far with that "cartoony" look. Young Arnold looked great. So did Serge Nubret, and for those who liked bodybuilders with smaller frames, there's of course Zane. Prime Zane would struggle to compete in the modern physique division. Too bad.

Zane was a beast. I'd love for body building to get back to this. It's not about looking like a freak, it's about looking like human perfection. Is this human perfection?

    Looks gross to me.

No, that's not perfection. That's too much mass with low body fat %, while having stomach bloated from HGH abuse. Now, I know old school bodybuilders used steroids, but compared to these new guys, it's like they took nothing at all. I also like the early generation of bodybuilders, such as Reeves, Grimek and Reg Park.

John Grimek was a beast man. One of my favorites. He was before his time. Reeves and Park were slimmer (especially Reeves), but also really awesome. These guys took the ultimate pride in their craft.

The idea is to make a statue, not make the human body the largest it can possibly stretch before tearing right out of it's skin.

Man have we taken this thread off topic.

    He's on that Lebron diet.

Or he quit the HGH too.
