We saw that up close last season too, was infuriating to me how we couldn't stop him this game. I kept calling him something like the slowest unstoppable scorer in the NBA.
Omg, thx 4 sharing... Dude effing straight up abused Drummond in that clip. He looks so much bigger going up against Drummond too. Lil hyped for the Brookster.
Thats the thing that stands out to me everytime I watch Brook's highlight videos, he's huge out there. Even against some big guys out there, he looks much bigger than them. Being able to stretch the floor and take his man off the dribble, its insane.
Yeah and hes the type as some others mentioned that dont look quick so watching you're thinking if the defender should be able to do a better job but hes got that Duncan/Pierce in him as i mentioned in another thread. Cmon Brook, hit 40% from 3 this year!
Just getting ready to watch this. I like these because you really get a feel for the consistency of specific valuable skills players give over the course of that whole season and the effort that seems like was applied to each block. Going to be looking for his hops, quickness and coordination. OK. Hell yeah he checks off a lot of Big man blocking skills for me. Quick for his huge size. Coordinated for his huge size. Can get up in the air reasonably well for his Big White Stiff Size. When he thinks he needs to as he reacts to each play. He seems to have a good sense of not wasting effort out there if he can get a block on a smaller guy or more static play while not jumping much or at all. He seems to have good hand / body / eye coordination for tracking and intercepting the path of the ball around the rim area. He looks badder out there with the shorter buzz cut. Big a** athlete who can put Luke into a reverie while watching his shooting stroke and accuracy from outside the 3 point line. Larry Nance Jr. ought to paste this photo on his bathroom mirror and burn it into his brain all day and go to sleep with it every night until he can feel comfortable enough to keep his silly left hand from flying off the ball on a shot without helping long enough with the guidance. Where's sirron? Can you, or how do I do it .... hit Larry with that photo and "tweak" him about keeping his left hand on the ball long enough to be more effective .... on Twitter?
Many of those were pretty sweet, some flat out rejections. Looking forward to seeing a quality big back on this team again.
I really liked his ability to slide toward the rim on some of those blocks. He didn't give a 2nd effort every time, but he uses his ridiculous, enormous size to his advantage in a very Gasol-esque way. There was a lot to like in there. Lopez may not be a terrific Draymond Green-like defender, but he's a solid rim protector. He was tied for 7th in blocks per game and was 8th in overall blocks last year. The only names ahead of him: Porzingis, Giannis, Jordan, Whiteside, Davis, Turner, and Gobert.
the key will be keeping him out of the high screen/roll. around the paint, he's huge and coordinated. same with zu, actually. would make sense to devise a full defensive scheme that keeps the 5 man in the paint all times, regardless of who he's defending.
Brook is a guy I've quietly coveted on this team for awhile now. I thought he and Kobe would've been a nice 1-2 punch together.
There was a game at home against the front line of Bynum, Gasol and Odom where he had over 20 plus points...before halftime. I was muttering "we can't stop effin' Brook Lopez?"
In the second half, Jackson who preferred single coverage, finally relented and sent a second defender at him. Lopez ended the game with over 30. 35...38 I think. His brother is more well known for his sideline antics with the Suns when we played them in the 2010 playoffs.
