It'll be as the article explained imo. Lonzo is going to have the highest usage rate of any rookie, with the ball in his hands for probably a majority of the possessions. Sixers have three guys who can control the ball with Fultz, Embiid, and Simmons. Not to say they won't be good, but Lonzo will get the exposure and opportunities these other guys won't.
I can see that. Simmons and Fultz will split votes, whereas Ball only has Kuzma, who isn't a ROY candidate IMO.
This isn't really Lonzo's game. Both in college and surprisingly in summer league his usage rate was considerably lower than most people thought. Lonzo is a ball mover, more than a constant dribbler who creates for others.
I marvel at how Lonzo can have such a low usage rate and still put up gaudy assist numbers. He really does feel transcendent right now. The honeymoon will probably end quickly and harshly during the year, but I'm loving the way he plays. I could see him being ROY, but I think if Smith Jr. stays healthy, it's his to lose. He'll have more responsibility on his shoulders on an individual level. Lots of opportunity to put up numbers and big, flashy dunks and plays.
I'm impressed by this years draft, regardless of whether Lonzo is the best player, I hope alot of great players develop from it - the league needs an influx of talent with all the 2003 class retiring soon. Lonzo, Fultz, Fox, DSJ, Jackson and Tatum can all be real good.
^^^ That's pretty sweet. I didn't read those rankings beyond what was posted here, Lonzo 1, DSJ 2nd. How do Simmons and Fult end up 3 and 4? They're on the same team, you'd think that would hurt one of their chances.
Wonder if Joel and Ben and Markelle all want to destroy and dunk on Lonzo even more now? Lonzo be like
What you all ARE is second page news once LeBronze gets here. Book it. Maybe not Lonzo, and maybe not Paul George, but pretty much everyone else.
Good. If they were superstars we wouldn't need LeBron, but they're not. I'm glad there's real talent looking this way instead of hoping Kuzma can break the rotation on a 25-35 win team.
There are other star or close to superstar talents besides LBJ that could be brought to Los Angeles just as hypothetically as him .... to pair with Paul George. I'm all about locking PG up 1st and then really sitting down with him no holds barred and seeing if he truly wants to now play second fiddle to LeBron ring chasing James? No need for the Kuzma smack BTW with what this point is about.
