Adam Silver: Nba Needs To Look At Taking Top 16 Teams For The Playoffs

    When have those draft picks saved those teams? They've been getting good draft picks for years.

    Well, that's what they're supposed to do anyways. If not, they're at least assets to trade to other teams looking to tank or rebuild.

    Again though that narrative has been proven false. Look at teams like Cleveland, Detroit, Charlotte, Milwaukee, Minnesota, even Orlando. These teams (except Cleveland who was bailed out) have consistently bungled their picks. They've picked the wrong players, they've made the wrong moves, they're consistently below average teams unless one of them lucks into a great player (Anthony Davis in New Orleans and he was a gift from Stern).

    I just don't think there's much incentive at all for bad teams to miss the playoffs if they don't have to. It's easier to suck in the East, still make the playoffs, and cash in on a playoff series where a bad Milwaukee team gets to host LeBron for two games.
