No they think Jayson Tatum is the next Paul Pierce.

Even so I'll take the next Jason Kidd over the next Paul Pierce any day of the week.

Should see how insecure sixer fans are, theyll discount ball anyway they can and will always revert back to their 30gm in 3yr transcending big Embiid lol

Not only that OX, but we will be killing that pick they have of ours. No way it goes to Philly as the #1 overall or to the C bags as the #2-5. Philly will have all that cap next summer, but will only have our lowly 1st rounder to show for it, as they whiff in free agency and just see all their targets head to us.

Can't wait to check in on the doomsday thread with all the C bag and Philly hate 1 year from now.

Tatum looks good so far. Issue is you aren't gonna pay IT 30 mil per, and you traded your best defensive guard.

If LeBron comes to LA next year, C Bags go to the finals in the east and have zero depth to contend in the finals.

James is right on the money. Lonzo is not only putting up great numbers in Summer League, but he's having a direct correlation on winning and impacting his teammates in a positive way.

Zo isn't an aggressive defender. But he reads passing lanes, has the speed and athleticism to jump them, and recover and block shots.

Haven't really seen any semblance of that since like Metta and Ariza. With Pope, it'll be a nice defensive touch.

Even if they believe this is true they won't say it out loud. They'll nitpick Ball's game all season and look for the negatives, hate on him irrationally and try to justify their pick (Philly too) being better, whether they are or not.

i think fultz and tatum are both going to be very good, but they don't see the game the way ball does

his basketball IQ is already off the charts for someone his age and he's only going to get smarter with experience

Why? Did he stated he hates Lonzo and will not watch Lakers games anymore? All i know is that he was pissed about the DAR trade (so was i and few other people). Let's hope he comes back soon, dude is good with numbers ;-).

beat me to it. and i think one of rodg's reasons for leaving was that people would tweak the doubters when things went well and ignore negative outcomes (such as the continued inability to shoot). but mentioning the latter tends to lead to the pitchforks coming out.

anyway, haven't watched the game yet, but i'm glad it looks like he played well again.

Aren’t these kinds of comments part of what caused him to leave?

I’m thrilled with how well Lonzo is playing but he isn’t above criticism and a lot of what trodgers was saying is valid.

yeah, rodg warned about the shooting pre-draft, and folks laughed it off. even i thought that part of his game would translate quickly--at least long-range shooting. but it hasn't, and it's not a one-game fluke at this point.

i've been encouraged by his improvements over the games taking it to the basket and his rebounding. his defense (really bad on ball, largely good off--though let's stop being beat on simple back doors, plz) and passing (very good) have been as advertised.

Lonzo isn't a great shooter or defender at this point and it honestly doesn't worry me one bit.

    Those are acquired skills.

He can get stronger so he can fight through screens better, his defensive awareness can improve just by experience and watching tape.

His shoot can be curtailed and adjusted to the point where he's able to create his own shot off the dribble and with reps can be more efficient.

One thing that isn't acquired or teachable is Lonzo's incredible feel for the game, his basketball IQ, his savant like passing abilities, the ability to consistently get into the teeth of the defense, making the right read time and time again, and the overall effect and impact he has on his teammates.

It's clear as day when you watch this kid play that he has future star all over him. At worst he's gonna be a very good player that makes a couple of All Star teams. He has the potential to be exactly what Magic and Rob said he could be which is a franchise changing and transcendent player that can lead this team back to NBA prominence.

The hype is absolutely warranted. I'll be honest. As die hard of a Lakers fan as I am I never really gave a damn about Summer League, but this year I HAD to tune in. I wanted to see this kid play. I wanted to see how he handled all the hype and anticipation and suffice to say he handled it beautifully and he has been above and beyond what I expected.

I cannot wait till real basketball gets here and seeing Lonzo go up against real NBA players. There will be growing pains, but there will be plenty of highlights and he says gonna bring enthusiasm and excitement and rivitating play back to the Lakers.
