You're ruining my other thread. But this is completely eye-opening to me. Some media guy was on Dan Patrick this morning telling Dan that Jayson Tatum is his #1 pick and that he's played the best in Summer League so far. Really? According to what metric? Traditional stats don't match up with that at all. Tatum had one great game against us (without Ingram), but his numbers aren't even better than our 27th pick!
A lot of media is raving over summer league like I've never seen, saying all too 5 picks look great and stuff, but I think we've seen plenty of examples from all 5 of rookie-ness. Fultz played with the same lack of fire I saw in college, Ball had a terrible debut and is still struggling from 3, Tatum can score but not a ton else, Jackson to me looked the same as college, good but doesn't blow me away, and Fox got torn apart by Alex Caruso.
With all the great stats Ball is throwing up,, I don't want to lose sight on Kuzma possibly being a huge steal in this draft. I think some of his stats are part of the Lonzo effect where he wouldn't look quite so good on another team, but still, Kuzma looks really really good, and both Randle and Nance might be on notice. This guy will take your spot if you don't mesh with Lonzo extremely well, and look like your stamina has improved. I have yet to notice Kuzma being out of breath.
So, you're saying that it's similar to how good Steve Nash made Amare Studemire look? Kuzma has been my favorite player, actually. I think he's a rotation piece with or without Lonzo, but if Lonzo makes him look better, great. I hope Lonzo does that for everyone; it might actually contribute to more wins if this translates in the regular season.
Yeah Kuzma is creeping up on my favorite players on the team.. Hes an under dog right now playing a big dog... But "you know" that lol.
Kuzma will challenge Randle and Nance for playing time. Kuzma has skills that neither Randle nor Nance have.
Could Robert Horry do all the things coming out of college (and at what age?) that Kuz does well? You know me and my pre-mature comparisons.
Somebody said in gametime he doesn't miss when he's open, and it's almost not an exaggeration, he's money in summer league.
How about Nance, Clarkson and a #1 pick unprotected in 2020 when we won't need it. F*** it throw in Bryant, or even Zu if he doesn't seriously get his physical act together.
So by trading DLo, Brooklyn took Mozgov's putrid contract AND gave us Kuzma.. Oh, and we got the better Lopez brother and cap flexibility Not bad, Magic and Pelinka.. Not bad at all
