I think that would the best move for them long term. If theyre unsure about Randle they can trade him at the deadline. At the end of the day theyre gonna have to look real suspect around the trade deadline for that to happen IMO.
Folks. You need to come to the realization that NO ONE is trading anything of significance for Paul George. You really need to focus on other things. No one is trading for Paul George with any real assets. Paul George is coming to the Lakers next year barring OKC winning it all which won't happen. Best OKC can do is get to the WCF and get beat by the Warriors. If the Lakers win 40 games next year, its over. That would mean Lonzo is a star in the making and BI is a star. Paul George coming puts the Lakers at 50 wins, if they get Lebron or Westbrook, all BS in my opinion, then the Lakers threaten the Warriors in the west because the Lakers have the bigs to disrupt the Warriors with Randle, Zubac and Lopez.
Why? I mean, God I hope so. At that point the interruption into PG's season to play with an even lessor chance at the ring by ending up with the C-Bags total = their utter destruction. Maybe. I really doubt they give enough though. Ainge flat out lied about his offers for Paul George before. I really don't think he's going to give up much. Maybe Crowder and a 1st though would work, but you'd have to make salaries work etc. Not to mention I doubt Boston is eager to watch him walk to LA. But for sure I'd make that call if I'm OKC and things aren't looking great.
OKC will be positioning for the playoffs. While I don't think anyone can beat the Dubs right now, having 2 dominant players gives you a punchers chance. OKC isn't just gonna throw that away at the trade deadline.
If he's indicated to them he's leaving to Los Angeles and they're struggling I think it'd be foolish of Oklahoma City to not entertain offers for George.
Agreed. I think Presti learned his lesson. I also think Presti looked at the trade as ultimately getting rid of Oladipos contract. If PG stays then great. I can see Presti trying to flip PG and Kanter or Adams at the deadline
I agree. it is foolish. Remember, I live here in OKC -- these fans haven't been basketball fans for very long. In their minds, the Thunder have as rich a history as the Lakers. They truly believe they can beat anyone with Westbrook and PG. Ownership will continue pulling the wool over their eyes making them think they are going for a title and then, when PG leaves, they'll hate him like they do KD.
I disagree. Presti hasn't learned anything. He got rid of harden over $4 million. Not $4 million a year, but over the life of the contract. Then he got rid of Serge for no reason at all. KD walked for nothing. PG will too.
And they'll have money to spend so they can try to do it again with another player next to Westbrook. Especially if Kanter opts out.
