So then you attach all the picks! Whatever you must to get rid of him.

No one is taking Deng. And the league thinks Clarkson and Randle blow. At least Deng can play when he is focused. Mosgov was a walking dildo. Deng needs to come in camp in shape and ready to go. If not, might as well just keep him on the bench for the next 3 years.

Hopefully by the trade deadline the Lakers and the rest of the league will have a far different opinion of Randle. You talk like he's peaked 5 months ago.

Teams just aren't eager to pay Julius. Think about the fan base: most of the fans around here don't want to be on the hook for his next deal. What makes anyone think opposing teams are different? It's not that he has no value, but it definitely affects what you're willing to give up for him. If he shines this year, that opinion will change.

And everyone understands what Clarkson is: a 6th man on a decent-but-long-term contract. Teams probably aren't eager to give up a 1st for him, but you might be able to get a late one or a couple 2nds.

LT, I have gotten the impression knowing you the last year that you are a glass is half full type of guy. And I respect that, very much and I do not think you should change. Not in the least bit. However, I am a not wired for cliches and analogies. I am one of those, hit them with it, types.

Randle's skill set has nothing to do with his reputation in LA or around the league. It's what's on top of his neck.

Everyone in the NBA is skilled, that's why they are in the NBA. But can a player transcend or help his team WIN. Randle has been on the team for 2 years and half a game and he hasn't shown any skills in helping his team win in any way on a regular bases. Instead, you hear more about how "he just had a baby" excuses on why he isnt performing the way he should. Clarkson is more known for his Kardashian fetish and bottle tables at the local night club than the 2 spot in the starting line up.

D'Angelo Russell, whom you all know I liked a lot and thought would be a star in LA, was jettisoned because his head was up his a** for 2 years.

If Randle and Clarkson were just 6th men or bench guys, this wouldn't even be a discussion. The fact that they are the current starters for a 26 win team, says these guys better show up in 17-18 or they are gone.

Agreed. My hope is that the gravity of the situation sinks in to Randle after seeing Russ gone and now Tarik Black and a winner of all winners in Magic Johnson helps him get his head right in addition to his body so he focusses properly. It's not just the physical I see. I know he has to get his s*** together between the ears and hope he does that prior to the deadline. He can be a beast as everyone knows.

If Julius takes his game to a new level (your numbers?) and he's playing decent to good individual and team defense I think he's better than anyone you hope to find at his dollars and is a unique kind of player like an Odom or like a Green. So yeah would definitely be pissed. Keep him and give him a reasonable contract.

Trade him for what or whom?

You are if your plan is to use Randle playing at that level just to dump Deng.

Trying to figure out for the life of me what his mind activity was last year. Why would you pay Deng near max money? And WHY FOR 4 YEARS!!!? And you call Mosgov at 12:01. Just a sad way to end an amazing run for him. He would have been better off just not signing anyone in free agency. That would have been more understandable.

I was looking at the contracts Minnesota has on the books and this trade, salary wise could work.

    - Pekovic (expiring 11 mil contract) + Cole Aldrich (expires in 2019, 7 mil) for Deng.

Doing this deal would clear additional 11 mil in salary for 2018 free agency. Pekovic doesn't even play so it will be strictly a salary dump by doing the trade and waiving Pekovic.

It isn't worth dumping Randle for a Deng dump. Maybe Clarkson but you have to have a 2 guard who can start next year if you do.
