That would suck for this year only guaranteed to cut a character guy especially with what happened just recently with his father's murder. Brutal. He has earned it and played well with a slow start but nice aggressive play and decent performance since with the %s. Effort and athleticism are both there. Unless they have some great score they need his roster position for right now. Still would hate to see it. Bad vibe.
I would not cut him. In preseason he couldn't shoot, so I didn't care if we kept him, but the last month or so, he's been as good a backup as you can hope to have behind Kobe IMO. Guys behind Kobe can get inconsistent time, inconsistent role, but he's found his spot, earned his time, and become more than a spot up shooter, I keep him around.
Yeah honestly I'd like him around next season too. Solid young player, decent athlete, smart guy, hard worker... How did he bounce around the league? I dig him.
No love for Sir Duke? Career high 28 points on 12 for 20 shooting! Wowza. Nice game. Love seeing Sir Duke do well.
Yeah, he did really well. We have some young talent on this team. Duke, Randle, Ed, Tarik, Clarkson... now we need that high pick and a star leader to brig it all together.
KEEP this dude! I've liked him all season and after a performance like that it's time to call it: he needs to be kept around. He's got a level head, plenty of talent, plays within himself, and steps up when called upon. Give this dude a long-term contract. Low risk/high reward type of bench player. I love it. He's the perfect kind of person to back-up Kobe.
Not sure if it's just because he's trying to still work another contract, but he's been by far, one of the more consistent gamers we've had all season. Much like Meeks was last year. He comes in, does his job, and doesn't complain.
I think he's a smarter player than Meeks though. Ellington will get beat, but he still makes the right plays defensively. He's not pressing a guy 40 feet from the rim and letting him blow past him.
I'd like to keep him, too. Kid fought through some horrific adversity this year with losing his father. He's been rock solid.
The crazy thing is that he was going to get cut after preseason but we couldn't because he got a concussion.
Besides the great shooting last night, which is what the Duke has made his NBA career about I loved his defense last night. He got into the passing lanes, disrupted the ball handler, and denied the ball while guarding off of it. Keep up the great work and I'd love to have him back for the simple reason is that he knows what Byron wants of him with the time he's spent with him in CLE, great locker room presence, works hard, and never complains.
Dratt!!! That's how bad things are..... didn't even check the schedule to know there was a game last night. Any chance highlights of his game are up in Media? Yep there are team highlights so some of it must be there. CaCHooKa Man is the man!! Holy crap CaCHooKa Man the quality on your clip vs the Wizards ..... I need to check them more often ..... Is as good as I've ever seen on one of these. Looks to me like there might even be a little "global" sharpening going on to just a good amount. Or not but wow Props that is sweet!
Ellington was really playing with a lot of confidence. Seems like he is taking the opportunity and rising up to shine a little bit with it. Keep it up and it's a LOT of rising up. But he surprises me in that he replaces so much of what we lost with Jody Meeks when he was playing his best. But he played well pretty much all year. Wayne's almost as athletic and fast up the floor with the ball and has some moves, decent hops and an equally sweet stroke. Not as quick on the draw but he gets it off fine. And Jordan too seems to be blowing up with his confidence and play. Some of the plays he made and the no look dish under the basket and the impressive jam. Nice samplings of fine NBA quality back court play from both of them.
Hopefully someone doesn't pull a Detroit and make him a ridiculous offer this summer. If the price is right, I'd gladly welcome him back next year.
