Anyone notice Pelinka said he had a lot of talks with Lopez's agents and they are a big reason why the transaction happened. Seems to be something I haven't heard before in regards to a trade. Is that sort of odd or the norm?
A Premium is being put on character. Nice to hear he has good reviews all around. If we keep him long term, we could have an awesome stretch of a top platoon at the Center position.
What's not to like about this guy? Already working out with the team? Really stoked that he's a Laker. Also has a game that can translate for at least 3-4 more years.
Eh, all positive signs, but it's the same press conference we've seen a hundred times. He'll be gone in a year like the rest of them. Pelinka even said, regarding the trade, that one of the advantages of it was clearing $22 mil in cap space for the summer of 2018. So unless this guy wants to take peanuts to stay on for more than a year, I'm not getting too attached. Unrelated: which Lopez brother is the one that spent all day at Disneyland by himself? Was it this one? Or his off-brand knock-off brother?
My ideal scenario. Lopez settles in, falls in love with playing for his hometown team, and for Luke, and catching lobs from Zo. He decides to come back and finish his career here for a significant discount. We keep him AND add two Max guys next year. Hey, it could happen.
