Having Magic and Pelinka in the family home was a HUGE advantage for Ball. They saw his daily workout routine, running the hills, the people he runs with, ate breakfast with his family that Lavar prepared, worked out in the backyard, and met his recovering mother and saw Lavar taking care of her. Seriously, how can anyone else compete with that when they see the others in the gym for 2 - 3 hours and a dinner in a restaurant? Whoever on Team Ball that came up with that deserves a raise.
^---------Y'all exactlay spot on. I think he believes he has enough spotlight and focus on himself. He wants to prove himself before having a coming out party IMO. His dad will be talking with some of Lonzos words/truth behind it but great news is that LaVar will take all the heat and I love it!
An honest what if. What if he really is one of those special, rare, killer dudes like the great ones are ..... between the ears? Physically he's not buff of course, but impressive already. He stays healthy and he will do fine this year. But if he has that stone cold killer in him then he can be a great one at his own size and within the scope of the best he's going to become 5 years from now in his prime. I don't like his interviews yet but his unflappability in them and on the court all points to a very ALPHA player here. Who is LeBron or Magic .... come on now. The incredible winning in HS. Undefeated and top ranked in the entire nation. UCLA program by and large turned around and taken to the Sweet 16. Dude is a WINNER.
I'm serious. The kid is going to be a star and he is going to play well this year. Some of the great ones come into the league and do that. Magic is not blowing smoke up there. Magic says what's on his mind and you know when he's excited. I'm guessing same with Rob. They're not being disingenuous up there. We could see it. They both believe Lonzo is one of those type players. If he has it between the ears so should you. Why are you fighting this so hard? Sheesh!
I'm willing to wait and see. The kid in my opinion is special. Is he Magic Johnson special? I don't know. Odds are heavily against him. But there isn't a "next one" until the "next one" comes along.
I'm actually pretty optimistic about Lonzo I just worry about expectations being too high right off the bat.
Magic Johnson is the most special player ever. So, the odds of anyone ever being "Magic Johnson special" are pretty slim, but that's not the standard for greatness. I mean, Lonzo could be a top-five player all-time and still not be Magic Johnson special. And I would settle for top-five all-time if I had to.
Exactly. That is the point. Stop with the he's not going to be Magic or LeBron coming out lectures. No one is claiming that. 99.9% of the rest of the players in the history of the league weren't either.
So glad to have lonzo when on paper he looked like the perfect fit on the C's as they try to get Hayward and probably Blake.
That is not the type of statement you ask two follow up questions on lol. You know what he means. Im the same way, always hoping for the best but prepared for the worst. It is a wait and see game and Lonzo DOES have a chance to make a franchise changing impact. This is a fact and truth. So after that being said why cant we hug it out and keep discussing our team in a positive and faithful manner.
Franchise changing impact? Possible. Franchise talent? Possible? Do I think so? No. Overhyped? Tremendously.
Who's overhyping are you reading? That's on you. Be more discriminate in what you read on Lonzo Ball. Why take it out on the rest of us by being out of character (for you) glass is half empty guy way too long about Lonzo?
See I figure whatever he gets his a** kicked for with his deficiencies the first year he is going to fix real quick in his career. He's got the greatest ever for a tutor about the mind set and telling him what he needs to work on physically. Got the work ethic and got the expectation himself of being great. 35 and freaking 0 state champion senior year HS and the next year turn around the UCLA program into a sweet 16 run. Facts.
