Killer 3s are the strongest team by talent. No idea if any of those guys still can play though. Also, my kids could come up with better team names than some of those team names
yes i believe it is. heres a link to the official rules. some cool stuff in this league https://big3.com/league-philosophy/rules-the-court
Won't give any spoilers away but some injuries to some popular players have already happened, not good. Still looking forward to this a lot and have the telecast set to record tomorrow instead of the NBA Award's show.
Ha ha, I came here to say the exact same thing. It's an intriguing idea, and if it does well we could hopefully next year attract some players that are more recently retired.
You know Ice Cube had to have asked Kobe if he wanted in and I'm sure Kobe hasn't really given him a hard no. I just think Kobe wants to first focus on his love of story telling and investing before thinking about doing this. I could see though in 2-3 years Kobe maybe doing something like this. Kobe and Shaq on a 3 on 3 team together, sign me up! Haha, oh the nostalgic feelings.....
some of those names are such blasts from the past lee nailon, moochie norris (great fro,) mobley, ruben patterson (kobe stopper,) dion glover need to check these games out
The games were played yesterday, but are being shown today. It started at 5, but I'm recording it and have been watching it for about 20 mins. It's pretty fun to watch honestly. All these guys are grown men (no kids in this league), so they know how to play, and so far in this first game they are all in pretty dang good shape. Starters Jason Williams, Kwame Brown, Rashard Lewis vs Ricky Davis, Mike Bibby (quickly got a cut and sat for a bit) Marcus Banks, Mo Evans, Ivan Johnson. First, hand checking is allowed and they are not calling weak NBA type fouls, it's pretty physical. Kwame has actually looked really good, Williams with the passing ability as always, Banks with some tough defense, and most of these guys shooting like you'd expect long time pros. So far I like it, has that feel pick up ball at the park mixed with the skill of NBA players, but it has a 14 second shot clock so the pace is quick. 30-29 at halftime, they scored a lot more than I expected. I guess when you're used to seeing celebrity all-star games with old NBA players in them it's easy to think eh this guy doesn't have it anymore, but playing with other ex NBA guys they clearly do.
It was pretty cool. At times it's really fun and entertaining and at other times it seems like... damn they're old.
Aaand it hit me why this is as dicey as it is fun. Jason Williams suffered a non-contact knee injury in the first game. It looked bad, but he did walk off on his own. Still, physical play plus old dudes equals potential injury. Hope the injuries are kept to a minimum, but again, old dudes out there playing hard.
I watched all the games last night and they were great. Close games going down to final points, clutch shots, very physical (which I liked). In 3-4 games these guys will full adjust, be in better shape, and it will be even better. Deshawn Stevenson is still a character and had be cracking up with his antics but he backed it up hitting the game winner.
