Seeing as it took D'Angelo, it'd probably take both those 1sts and Randle to dump him for a useful piece.

I don't think this would be favorable for Pritchard.

    1. He needs to get a solid return for Indiana. Taking an unfavorable package in order to spite the Lakers or George's request is that type of move will get him fired for not being able to get the team at least in a direction of a rebuild if that is the plan.

    2. By spiting George like that, it'll deter other top free agents from coming to Indiana if he isn't treating his players right.

    3. It'll make it harder for the Pacers to deal with us in the future.

if it's been made clear by PG's camp that he's only willing to sign an extension with LA, no team is going to want to trade for him. unless it's a team like the cavs who feel that a deep playoff run would get him to change his mind, but even then i don't see anyone trading for him if his mind has been made

either indy accepts the lakers offer of randle or clarkson +27+28 OR they'll keep him until the deadline and unload him to a team looking to go all in

27, 28, Clarkson, Deng for an expiring perhaps?

Sure I know but come on. He's still giving his Lakers and now Magic-again-who's-effing -him-in-taking-George.... hating 2 cents on the matter and discussing.

I get that but no one really knows about anything specific. Media is suggesting left and right, some exuberantly outrageous but all of them knows we're willing to give away a crumb. So anything equal or better than Clarkson/Randle and the two firsts wouldn't do Pritchard any good or bad. If the Cavs and maybe even cbags does fundle that offer for a rental, then 2018 it is.

eh, maybe. he might have others in his ear telling him that he'd score big PR-wise for not caving to george's demands, particularly involving the lakers. the lakers are one team--there are 28 others to deal with. maybe, like with the cp3 veto, he's heard from a few of them suggesting that trading george to la would royally piss them off.

how would you feel if you're say, denver. paul george is never going to come and tell his team he's going to denver next year, so...do what you want. they are competing with the lakers. they probably think this is some serious b*******.

it's been repeatedly reported that talks are ongoing with houston and cleveland. morey tried to trade for howard when howard made it clear he didn't want to be there. then morey signed howard outright a year and a half later.

I think we'd be optimistic trying to find that package. I think Deng ends up being waived instead of attaching everything we'd need to in order to move him.

Haven't seen Houston and George/Indy connected yet but Houston has jumped into the trade market.

i think if we do manage to get george, one of randle and nance is gone, deng plays substantial minutes at the 4 and maybe recovers some value, making a dump slightly less costly?

If Paul George has said to Magic through secret channels that he will come to the Lakers next year, I try and dump 27,28, future picks and Deng. I dont know if I would trade Clarkson in that deal Lakers need a shooting guard. Are the Lakers gonna go after someone like Lowry in free agency? I dont know.

I like this idea a lot. Deng still looked half-way decent as a stretch-four at times.

If we had to throw in Nance or Randle to get the job done, maybe we keep one of the picks for cheap labor. There's some decent bigs that should be available in that area.

I happen to think that Deng would be more motivated to perform this year. That doesn't mean I want him to stay long term, but he is a good player. Not sure many vets would be motivated on a sorry team. Magic will make it work out.

Oh to be a fly on the wall in Magic Johnson's office when he's calling Indy. Tomorrow can't come any quicker!

Interesting way to look at it.

I would probably do it but before the lottery Randle hasn't really shown all the work/progress he's made to his body and Russell at 21 yrs old I would definitely need some time to think about it.

    Great question though!

The Paul George unknown is really whats killer right now, not the Russell trade.

    hadn't seen this posted:

meanwhile, houston has drummed up a bidding war for patrick beverly, perhaps to get a pick to move for george.

that said, i don't see why randle and clarkson couldn't easily be flipped for picks (higher than 27 and 28) and expirings if indy's so hung up on this.

    What's the delay, f***.
I dare Indy to do Paul dirty...
He better stick to his word and come here next year though.

Yeah I'm not sure I'm understanding the hold up then...

If they don't like our guys, someone must like them at least as much as they liked D'Angelo. If they can get better offers than Clarkson/27/28 then I wish them a good day and I move on. I try to attach those two picks to either move up in the draft or move Deng out somehow.

I'd rather have some of our kids next summer where we can move them as needed than trade all of them this summer for George and Lopez.

tricky game. if you told me last week that we'd enter July with paul george/#2/ingram/lopez and no mozgov, i'd have taken it, honestly. so important to get that first star on board. indy knows it, so they're trying to squeeze the #2 out of us. i get it. they're already screwed, but if we miss the opportunity to land george, we could be right where we are for another five years. so much can happen in 12 months.

sadly, i think this standoff will continue through the draft (maybe far beyond), making having the 27 and 28 problematic.
