The downside is the draft is tomorrow. We're not gonna draft the players they want. We'll draft what we want. Gotta happen in next 24 hours or it doesn't happen this off-season (IMO).

I think most would have been opposed.

Pre-lottery most people were saying JC/JR/#28. Now that George is pretty much demanding a trade to the Lakers? Replace JR with #27. And even that may be overpaying.

And if Ball is a Baller out the gate, the Lakers are a year ahead of schedule with 60+ mil in money going into an enriched free agent crop in 2018.

That's what I'm saying, though. What's the rush to take it between now & the start of the draft tomorrow? Might as well wait these 30 hours to see if you can do better. We agree that he's going to be moved before the draft.

Absolutely. The two guys most complained about on here are Russell and Randle. Getting rid of both, adding Ball, Lopez, PG, and then having cap room works all the way around.

Pretty much. They have incentive to get this done by draft night, but they don't have incentive to get this done any sooner than that. They're smart to hold out for the absolute best offer they can get and then if they decide they want to move him and get some players in this draft, they can seal any deal tomorrow. Until then they can answer or make calls all day to other teams and try and get the best offer. Their interest isn't doing what George wants, it's getting the most they can for him, even if they get some team to overpay for a rental.

So yeah, if our offer is Clarkson and the 27 and 28, I don't expect to hear this trade happen today. We've heard we're trying to move up in the draft, maybe we land one in the teens for those 2 picks that's more enticing to Indiana, or maybe we relent and give Randle if we haven't offered him yet. As much as I love Nance I'd offer him with Clarkson too simply because his style of play lends itself to injury.

The only way they get Randle is if they take Deng.

They're not taking Deng and we end up with one of the best players in the league. That's just unreasonable. :D It took Russell to dump Mozgov, it would take like Ingram, the 2 and human sacrifice to dump Deng.

So maybe this is Magic going right back at his old rival. "This is what it is (whatever that is) and you're on the clock sucker. I'm using the picks in the draft if you're not going to take them. And have George later anyway (even if not ideally with Bird rights). So that's it Larry your move. ??

Agree. Two 1st round picks, Randle, Clarkson, and Nance? Sheesh. If we're giving all that, they're taking Deng and we can take one of their players with a less bad contract than Deng.

At the end of the day, whether we get pg13 or not, I'm still screaming F Indiana. And thanks for that 2000 title. And Bird -- Magic owned you his entire career.

Let's see if Magic and Rob have a wand of their own.

I saw you mention Magic going at it with his old rival, thought about Larry Bird, and then read the bolded part here very differently in my head. :D

bird is no longer the pacers president and he's not the GM either. as far as i know, he's only with the team as an advisor

he's not the one calling the shots here

We'll see. It's not that well kept a secret among the ESPN710 crowd that Russell likes to party. I'm sure those stories will leak out over time.

pritchard's calling the shots, and he's a guy who values his personal profile over the good of the team, which worries me. he may move george to houston for peanuts just to be a d*** about it.

Seems like he is playing off of the desperation of us really wanting PG, despite saying we are happy to wait it really doesn't seem so.

This is actually what worries me. Indiana taking less from others if it means us not getting what we want, PG especially since we're refusing to give them what they think they deserve.

If that's how all of these are gonna pan out, then might as well proceed with the next order of business, clearing up space and preparing for next summer. We've been used to sub30 seasons for a while now, 1 year won't kill us.

So, what are the prospects of how we can dump Deng where he belongs?
