Trading Russell makes no sense to me. We put 2 years into the kid, he's shown some major flashes. Why would we say the #2 is completely off the table when whoever we take there is a completely unproven NBA player, yet be willing to give up the #2 pick from 2 seasons ago that we have seen play and seen start to progress? If the Lakers are so not sold on Ball that even up until yesterday they were reportedly still going back and forth between him and Jackson (and maybe Fox), why would he be valued over Russell?

Problem losing Russell is you're down a big firearm. Only way the Lakers will have a chance at beating GSW in a couple years is matching talent.

yeah, teams are REALLY trying to sell that narrative on today of all days, believe me.

definitely. he's a couple years removed from mvp consideration. i think he's a better player than james harden. would be a huge coup if the lakers get him. like instant relevance.

And what does that have to do with my sense about what Medina was saying his sense was?

If we get rid of Deng can we afford LeBron in 2018?

Do we have enough cap room to absorb George's salary? I was under the impression salaries would have to match which means if Russell is going out, he would HAVE to be attached to one of the bad contracts.

But really, that tweet about Russell/#28 seems like speculation from someone we've never heard from. I'm hopeful Magic/Rob are smart enough to know they don't have to give up DLo

I say wait till PG is a free agent. Wait till the trade deadline when they are desperate

Because they're going to lose outright if they do nothing.

They either take on one bad contract in a deal that brings over a young prospect and another pick or end up with nothing. No team is going to give them a young prospect for a 1 year rental, it's the leverage the situation has presented itself.

My bad. I need to go to the Open Discussion forum more frequently.

I'm not a huge water sports guy. It was a houseboat trip. Lots of fun Seadoo time.

Water level is up 10 feet from when my grandfather-in-law was there about a month ago. Probably still rising. It's about an 8-hour drive from SoCal with gas/food pitstops, but so worth it. Frickin gorgeous. If you can ever make a houseboat trip out of it, please take advantage.

His ceiling is incredibly high. His floor is above average. He works with our current team. It makes no sense at all.

Clarkson, Randle, #28. Sign Griff in free agency.

    Ball
    Russell
    George
    Griffin
    Zubac

Ingram as super 6th man, ala Manu.

If Bird still has a fair amount of influence with the front office of the Pacers, then I don't believe they would trade PG to the Lakers for anything less than a sizable return. In that case, the Lakers are better off waiting to sign PG in the off-season than giving into demands for Russell and other assets.

Sure seems like George is going to be traded on or before the draft.

I think he comes here if we let go of D'Lo. If not, he goes to a rental team and we keep our fingers crossed for next Summer.

I'll be pretty bummed if we part of D'Lo for him. If we land him now and the most valuable piece we give up is Randle, I'm personally chiseling Magic a second statue outside of Staples. It'll look like this...

Couldn't agree more. Clarkson and Randle need to be the most we give up.

Can I have an earphone plugged in in all of these trade talks? Should be fun to actually hear how one psychoanalyze the other.

A 3rd team is a good option...but which one will help us?
