Well, I completely forgot to say I thought it was a weak move for him to go join the Warriors and I didn't really like him as much after that moment. But, time changes things, people start to forget why he left and went there and the results are all that history starts to remember. I still don't love it, but I get it now, he and Westbrook had reached the max of where they were going to go together without another great player, and Durant wanted a ring and probably, like everyone else, to beat LeBron. So Westbrook is over there killing himself to carry his team, Harden is over there also not winning rings and having it all on him, and Durant went where he could be a part of something better yet still be the man. It worked out great for him so far, being on this team only allowed him to highlight just how great he really is, which people forgot for a while there while he was injured and working his way back.
It is impressive, but at the same time, context does matter. There were no true big men in this series. When ZaZa and Thompson are the biggest guys out there, somebody not a center is going to average a lot of rebounds and blocks. The other stats you can't take anything away from, but let's not pretend LeBron is the greatest player of all time because great centers are extinct or have Boogie Cousins' brain.
The Warriors are already being heralded as one of the best teams of all time and people mention them with the likes of the 96 Bulls and 01 Lakers. That's why I wouldn't be surprised if the talks come up if they win 3/4 rings (and also based on how much the press is eager to push Lebron as comparable to Jordan). I could see the press saying that KD is better than Kobe because he scored as much and was much more efficient doing so.
A couple of NBA teams have to sacrify themselves for the rest of the league and offer both Iggy and Livingston deals they can't turn down during the summer ... As their Big 4 will stay together , you have to force the Warriors to get perimeter backups as mediocre as their current bigs . The big 4 will have to spend more energy and play more minutes all season long . As for the Cavs , they can be pissed because I think they would have repeated if the Warriors had the same team as last season .
I don't know, I guess it's possible, but their games are so different, Durant is a SG in a PF body with ridiculous length. I don't really compare them, even LeBron and Durant are more comprable than Kobe and Durant. Kobe also didn't have to go join a team of all-stars to get his ring, he won with 1 other all-star in both his title runs, and a clearly inferior supporting cast to what this Warriors team has the 2nd time around with Pau and co. In the end they might say Durant is better than Kobe, but some say LeBron is now and we know the truth there. Or, who knows, maybe as he goes along in his prime, Durant will do things that legitimately make people say he is or could be better than Kobe. I'm not going to say that's impossible.
Played with Ilgauskas, Delonte West, Boobie Gibson and coached by NBA Champion Mike Brown. C'mon, Bron! Who you kiddin'?
