We are sort of banking on Geroge's heart, but also its a pretty smart decision for him legacy wise. The Pacers are not going anywhere, even if they get better he will not exactly get props for it.

Now lets say he joins the Lakers next year, a team full of young talented players (who are hopefully developing). Even with the young players taking the next step, he would be known as the guy who sort of "saved' the Lakers if we do really start competing.

Meh I likes the chances of our core, most talented 10 - 12 or so guys with PG in the lineup playing their lineup with PG there by mid season next year. My homer opinion of course. Is it wrong? And the lure of sunny So Cal over cold Indy in winter.

I've been watching George just as much as I do Lakers the past couple of years and believe me when I say, Indy's 42-40 reg season last time and 0-4 sweep greatly understate the potential of the Pacers. They're more like a 48-34 that can go toe to toe against eastern's best not named Cavaliers.

I would not argue with our assets and their potential. But here's how I see them. Unless at least 1 star/superstar arrives, the potential of our players will remain exactly that, just potential. And you know potential is a very fickle thing. It's gone before you know it.

They need someone, at least one veteran star to bust that potential gate wide open.

Is it silly? How many games does that team win? Maybe you're overvaluing the pick? JC is a below average wing who's getting paid like an above average wing.

That team wins now, and it has a good chance at locking up Lopez cheaper or moving onto Zubac if he's ready, further saving $ for resigning players.

That's Lopez and that's Millsap. You can't say it makes no sense and ignore the evidence to the contrary. Many are saying do it now, and there's excellent reason to do so.

George doesn't care about playing with Ball or Randle. He wants to play with established and promising players like Millsap and Lopez.

I'd like to see a season with the new regime in place, but I'll trust the front office if they go another direction.

Something cool about seeing your own talent grow into stars. It was fun to see Kobe's metamorphosis over time. Not always easy, but darnit, he was ours.

Still fighting the good fight on the trade front eh? Not gonna get far with this crowd especially if Russell isn't being traded.
    :Laugh::Laugh::Laugh:

For what its worth, that trade along with several others that have been thrown out there for George, Butler, etc aren't bad deals at all in my opinion.

    Couple of counterpoints.

I'm not sure you can know that George doesn't care about playing with Ball or Randle. We've seen him playing pickup with Randle this summer. They share an agent. They may want to play together. I can't speak for PG13, but I would want to play with Lonzo Ball. A low usage PG that moves the ball to scorers when and where they want it is a favorable situation in my eyes.

Millsap and Lopez are certainly established, but hardly promising. Millsap promises decline at 32 years old. Lopez promises what he has always promised; inevitable injury.

If PG wants to win, he doesn't want a rookie PG who can't defend and a no defense, can't shoot PF. I assume he wants to win.

Well, if PG is all about winning, he better be joining the Cavs ;-).

Not sure he couldn't push them over the top. They are starting closer than we are.

^ they are closer :-(. They still have to decide what to do with the midget though...and won't beat Lebron's even with George wearing green.

Yeah I just don't think it makes sense really at all to trade for George at this stage. Giving up all those assets so we can play 6th fiddle in the West? While the Warriors are still at the height of their power? For a guy who could leave after a season like Dwight Howard? Why bother?

I'm only giving up the kids for a high caliber player under contract for 2-3 more years. End of story. If Paul George is coming here, it's going to be as a FA because we made this a destination worth coming to.

Now if Indiana was willing to take a cheap offer of something like Clarkson and future draft considerations, then I'm willing to talk. Otherwise, no thanks.

Sixth fiddle is an absurd underselling of that team. They'd be third.

I couldn't agree more with you Real.

TRodg, we can still possibly make a deal with Brooklyn for Lopez by unloading Moz/Deng on them along with Clarkson plus some.

I like Millsap too, so the only way I entertain him if I can find someone after completing the the Lopez deal, that would take the other half of MozDeng along with Randle for a cheap/6th man caliber player.

Then you could have your cake and eat it too without giving the #2,Russell or Ingram. With the Randle trade perhaps we find a solid 6th man that can take over Clarksons role.

    Ball or Fox/Ennis
    Russell/?
    Ingram/Nwaba
    Millsap/Nance
    Lopez/Zu/Black

Then we can outright sign Paul George, then probably package a trade of Russell+ and get another star.

In any scenario involving Brook, why would Brooklyn trade Lopez for a longer contract and half the player he is?

Then there's probably greener pastures elsewhere.
