    Hello Paul George 2018.
Are they expecting to rebuild overnight? Shouldn't they try to be competitive on the East before trying to rebuild. Heck, Indiana was closer in the 4 games against the Cavs than the other teams.

Pincus with some insider info and some good perspective.

Key note: it'd take a potential lottery pick to shed Deng according an unnamed NBA executive. That's a bummer.
Key note: the Lakers are stuck in a fine line between holding on to the youngsters and finding a way to get another talented piece in here.
Key note: it's like some of the people here have been saying- the Lakers need something to convince George this is the spot. A transcendent #2 pick could do it, but more likely it'd take an actual secondary player. A player with some more cache in the league. To get that guy would take either FA monies or a trade...

    Tough spot to be in.

Potential lottery pick, hmm. Maybe the 2019 pick if we are desperate?
Maybe a disgruntled star becomes available at the trade deadline. We will have half the season to gauge the kids. Build a package around JC and work from there.

That's fine.. this is the best scenario for us that IND blindly believes he is staying and then he walks to us for nothing. Now we do have to hope for PG13 to not made the All-NBA teams again this next year but I'm not too worried about that.

Lebron and KD have put the bar way up there and taken the social media hits for leaving their home teams to better position for a ring elsewhere. So when PG goes now it's no longer a big deal. He can shrug and say "I tried to tell you".

You can't really expect the Pacers not to have a counter press release of their own because that's exactly how I see this.

I don't see how any big name talent would not want to come this way now that there is competent leadership and organizational integrity. The chance to increase their brand is here, and why wouldn't you want to have access to Magic, Pelinka, Kobe, et al. for networking opportunities to improve your business off the court, not to mention the benefit on the court. Another championship is coming soon, they just need 2 high quality free agents and that can happen within 2 years. Oh, and they need to dump at least 1 of those 2 sandbag contracts left over by the previous regime.

Kyrie for PG 13 (Pacers would agree) and Love for Butler ( Bulls wouldn't agree) should be Cavs fantasy trades if they want to beat GS in 2018 or 2019.

So the Pacers are planning on keeping him? It's pointless to wait so long to rebuild. That building process is gonna take some time, at least things look bright over here with so many young promising players.

Paul would be foolish to stay, and not come to L.A.

Him going to LA is no better scenario than him staying in Indy. That's how non LAL folks see it and I won't exactly disagree with them.

I think Pincus is right here, and sitting and waiting for George to run to LA may be a mistake. Indiana could improve and could offer more money than LA, and they're starting from a higher position. Oh, and they're in the east.

Lakers could - at least in theory - add Brook Lopez and Paul Millsap this offseason.

Mozgov + Black + 28th pick for Lopez.
-We don't have to add salary, we open up space for Zubac as the primary C backup, and we get a 19/7 career player.

We send JC, Randle, and the #2 for Paul George.
-We lose a lot of depth, but we add our star.

This opens up a slot for Millsap starting at about 20M. It's no slam dunk, so we might have to try to ditch Brewer, too. I'm not sure. That would get us much closer to where we need to be - and dumping Deng would be nice, too.

    We'd have:
    Russell/Ennis(Min)
    George/Nwaba
    Ingram/Brewer
    Millsap/Nance/Deng
    Lopez/Zubac

We could bring on a couple minimum salary players - I've suggested Terry, Nene if they're interested in chasing playoff glory.

    Russell/Ennis/Terry
    George/Nwaba
    Ingram/Brewer
    Millsap/Nance/Deng
    Lopez/Zubac/Nene

That starting lineup would have averages of 87-28-17 from last year. We'd also have Brewer expiring, and we'd have the faint future hope of moving Deng.

Bulls won't do it, but the Cavs won't do the other trade either. Kyrie isn't the problem.

I mean really Love isn't the problem either. The problem isn't on the Cavs roster, it's on the Warriors.

Also I know we're circling back here for the umpteenth time, but trading for George makes no sense.

Trade for someone that George wants to play with. George can come when/if he wants to.
