It's a bit different imo... Lavar said he had more time to spend with his kids than Lebron (or any other superstar athlete) did, which is a fact. That woman was accusing Lavar of abusing and forcing his kids to play basketball, a hateful opinion that has no basis on fact.

uhh...i heard lavar ball talking s*** about kyrie irving's upbringing in the past few days. sorry, dude, you tell anyone and everyone how great a father and person you are, and you're inviting (appropriate, in this case) criticism. firing back by impugning the character of the other person's family is sort of incredible for an adult.

i might feel differently had the whole cycle not been started by his own questionable and attention-seeking behavior. had leahy made some comment about a player's family dynamics when a family member hadn't been essentially demanding such discussion, i'd be irate as a fan (or member of media-consuming society). i can't muster the ire here.

I don't think National TV is a place to go that low. He had a chance to rise above his detractors, but instead he made them all very happy and fell for the bait.

Now that they know they can get him, every interview will be well scripted with an inflammatory comment or two to tweak him. It's too bad really. He had a chance to do some good things, but I think he just shot himself in the foot again. He's losing toes, and he's exposing his lack of business savvy.



it's also time for Lonzo Ball to man up and tell his old man to shut up. If he can't run his own life, he certainly can't run a team of grown men.

 

I'd say she had an agenda for some attention, and he fell for it.

No matter what you think of her, he handled it VERY POORLY.

Better to let people think you are a fool than open your mouth and remove all doubt.

 

it's just such a stretch to defend this guy. i'd rather not engage in that moral yoga.

 

It's like he's racing toward Byron territory for me personally, and that is a special place reserved for terrible people.
