I like he has more of a Kobe mentality than a Lebron mentality. Have you EVER seen him flop? Manly men don't flop. Manly men stand up to dudes like Demarcus Cousins and invite him into his bubble for contact. I'd be ok with him expanding his role to enforcer as well if it's in his nature.
the double standard around here sort of astounds me. i said i still had hope for a player who put up, statistically, a pretty terrible rookie season, and it sparks a big response. meanwhile, half the board thinks we could replace russell with ball and improve next year. *shakes head and blinks repeatedly*
Who thinks this? From what I've gathered, the vast majority on this board thinks..... Ingram > Russell > Top 3 pick Evidence: Everyone is quick to include the Top 3 pick for the PG13 trade, but not Russell.
I'm an equal opportunity memer Just do something noteworthy and have a decent picture or clip involved is all I ask. Other than that I'd like to have a winning team to root for again. That'd be nice.
Check out these numbers: Player A: Age 22. 28 games, 32.6 minutes, 16.7 points, 5.4 assists, 4.6 rebounds, 48% FGs, 31% threes, 84% FTs Player B: Age 21. 27 games, 30.0 minutes, 11.9 points, 2.0 assists, 10.8 rebounds, 45% FGs, 23% threes, 75% FTs Player C: Age 19. 27 games, 30.6 minutes, 15.1 points, 3.3 assists, 3.1 rebounds, 40% Fgs, 39% threes, 77% FTs Player D: Age 19. 15 games, 20.3 minutes, 10.0 points, 1.2 assists, 4.5 rebounds, 55% FGs, 0% threes, 56% FTs Player E: Age 19. 21 games, 32.2 minutes, 13.2 points, 2.5 assists, 3.9 rebounds, 48% FGs, 27% threes, 55% FTs These are the post-break splits on Clarkson, Randle, Russell, Zubac, and Ingram. There are absolutely areas where Ingram needs to improve, but for an extended period of time - 21 games at least - Ingram was able to shoot 48%, score the ball, and play continually improving D. And that's at 19. He has a high ceiling. Zu's performance is also promising, but there are reasons for more caution. He couldn't earn more than 20 MPG and he didn't rebound well. He's a big, and they take time to develop. I get that, but Ingram's frame hardly prevented him from being effective. I think Zu has a decent ceiling, but he has a lot of work to do. Russ's scoring and threes are great, and he was only 19 as well. The FG% and the relatively low assists and rebounds were a concern, but his numbers also look decent. Randle and Clarkson posted big numbers - a double double from Randle looks good. But he was 21 when he did this, on unimpressive shooting. So that tempers what I take from that stretch of games. And Clarkson - the best looking set of stats, I think, of any of these rookies, but he was 22, and we've seen that he hasn't improved much. So, yeah, I think Ingram's performance wasn't bad, and in context it was a solid start with the most promise of any of our young dudes.
my point is that we have to go to post-break splits for ingram to look good. pre-break, he was almost historically terrible (correct me if i'm wrong there). russell's post-asb splits are nearly identical to his full season numbers. more importantly, the thing that seems to be dragging down perceptions of the non-rookies is the lack of breakout production--but ingram hasn't had the chance to not break out. if he shows up and looks just like the post-asb player for a full season next year, should i expect that a "still have hope" comment will be met with skepticism instead of derision?
His shooting was historically bad, I believe. Did you think that post ASB Ingram was...bad? Worse than our other youngsters when rookies? Where do you see him overall right now? Maybe the appraisal of him is getting lost in translation.
I'm envisioning Ball-George-Ingram-?-? eventually. Hate to say it but rest of the team are all open for being traded.
I mean yeah I'm glad he's getting stronger, but I'd be fine if he stayed mostly the same in that area and just stayed engaged for entire games and got some sense of defensive awareness. Sometimes it's like he's daydreaming out there.
i have, like, a thousand thoughts on this stuff... starting with: who won at tetherball? bur fer realz: anyone ever watch someone sliding with rubber bands on their legs and think...maybe you should just be playing basketball against legit competition?
I don't think our guys should be playing a lot of ball at the moment actually. This is the best time for them to be conditioning and strengthening themselves, working on details, etc. During the season they don't have a ton of time to hit the weight room and really work on improving their bodies that way. In fact, it's probably a good idea for most of them to not lift a bunch during the year.
The man in charge made it clear he wants body fat % down. Randle's doing exactly what I would be doing. Not to mention that this video does not mean that he is only working out and not playing or practicing.
Yeah. Getting in tip-top shape isn't going to stop him from pouting. Some therapy and 5-hour energy drinks spiked with ritalin before the game might be better for him than any workout.
if he ends up staying, I think he stands to be the biggest beneficiary. D'Lo wanting to be a 2-guard is an obvious one. If Randle is relieved of ball-handling responsibilities and instead gets passes from Lonzo, he the "improvement" he will make in this year will appear to be greater
^The point is that one thing people rave about Randle is his playmaking. To me it was always "too much". He would hold onto the ball in the elbow area and eat the clock for no reason. I want Randle down low banging for rebounds and converting around the rim. So Ball coming could do wonders for Randle but it could also diminish one of his talents which is "above average playmaking" for a PF.
After a year of the Randle experiment, his playmaking is probably best used as a "change of pace" tactic. Randle being a primary ball handler for a starting lineup is too much of a workload IMO. Lonzo would assume more of those positions, though I still like the idea of Randle pushing the ball after a defensive rebound.
