Everytime Bonkscooter is mentioned, a person in Chile dies.

I like PG, and will he make us a better team? Definitely, but I'm not convinced that he's a player that you build around and win a championship. In this current moment and how the CBA is, it's difficult to build a team that could topple the Warriors or Cavs for the next few years.

We need to have other top player(s) lined up as well. If we only just trade for PG, we'd be a playoff team but we would plateau like the Knicks did with Melo.

You gota start somewhere....if no pg, do you faith that 1 of the young guys currently on the team is sort of transcending star that can carry everyone?

Do you think PG is a transcending star?

I get your point, it's hard to see any of the young guys being the next Kobe right now and we're desperate to win again. I think we need to have faith in them as the CBA has made it more difficult to sign free agents and there hasn't been a team that has recently won a title without a "homegrown" star already on the team (Kobe with Lakers, Wade with Heat, etc.).

I'm just saying that we need to have other moves lined up just signing PG. If he really wants to come here that badly, we should use some of our assets to get another superstar and sign PG as a free agent in 2018. In addition, we need to somehow trade away Deng and Mozgov to put us a in better position to sign not only PG, but also sign another superstar.

No pg is not, those types dont usually jump ship to bad teams nor do they sign with bad teams. Of course you need more than just pg, but if dont have a pg to start where do you start then? But if we going the trade for another star and hope he signs then i suggest Butler, something like this
    Butler/Lopez/Sac 1st they own
    For
Jc/Randle/Deng/top 3 pick/both 2nds back to them that we got for jose trade. Then if theres cap sign Griffin, stretch Moz in 18' to make room for pg

I'm not sure it's worthwhile to introduce these labels - star, transcendent, "true number one," or what have you.

Paul George averaged 23.7 points, 6.6 rebounds, and 3.3 assists (on 46-39-90 shooting) on a playoff team this year.

In the last six seasons, he has...
Three of the 200 highest PER seasons for individual seasons among players with at least 1500 minutes in a season (13-14, 15-16, and 16-17).
Three of the top 57 Value Over Replacement Player seasons for individual seasons among players.

The only players with more such VORP seasons during that span: Durant, Westbrook, Steph Curry, Chris Paul, Harden, and LeBron.

What these players have in common is they have received all of the MVPs over that time span, and they also have all of the second spots secured in all but one and three of the five third place spots. In other words, they occupy 12 of the top 15 spots on the MVP list over the past five seasons. I imagine Russ and Harden are 1 and 2 on the list this year, too.

So, George is probably the only guy available who has 23/6/3 stats (only 15 players posted 23/3/3 this season), 45/35/85 shooting (only 11 were at 45%+; only 9 also had 35%+, only 6 had 85% FT shooting, too). That list: Durant, Leonard, Irving, George, Butler, and Curry.

Add in that other list, rule out the guys not on both, and you're left with: Kevin Durant, Steph Curry, and Paul George.

And he just turned 27 today. He probably has four or five elite years left. We'd be foolish not to get on that.

It comes with the territory of being a celebrity athlete and in LA.

You're going to get recognized. If he wanted a private escort through the park, he easily could have.

I think he likes it, he wants to get recognized, he wants to feel the love in LA.

Obviously actually getting in his way and in his personal space is something else, but I think everyone is just doing the usual "Come to LA!" stuff with him.

Probably the real Paul George who opened his account here after being so influenced by fans shouting "Hey George come to the Lakers!" at him while at Disneyland.

    Hahaha... You wish.

But to answer someone else's inquiry, I'm Paul George's biggest fan. I'd take out anyone who will say otherwise. Been watching the man since Year 1 of his career.

Yep. He's just a flat-out fantastic player entering his prime. He's also a go-to guy that we don't have.

Gotta go get him if he can be landed for a reasonable trade package.

If we can keep our Top3, we can definitely land PG + possibly 2 additional impact players
while hopefully only trading away 2-3 of our young core + HOU 1st + Top3. If we can shed one of Moz or Deng in the process, I'll be ecstastic.

The best scenario is to keep our pick and draft Ball. Then trade randle, jc and Houston's pick for pg13. Then see what the market is for Russell, possibly get a Jimmy Butler out of it.

    Ball
    Butler
    Ingram
    George
    Ivica

    That's my wishful off season.

    Pipe dream
