This thread is growing rapidly (feels almost like the Metta thread way back in the day). When i woke up this morning, i thought we got George already
I like Nance a LOT. I used to say he could start over Randle if his game continues to develop. But it hasn't. His inability to hit that wide open 10-foot jumper is holding him back. If he got that one simple skill on lock down he would be such a great presence on the floor.
Another thing on PG. Playing devil's adovcate. He leaves Indy unhappy with playoff success......to come to a bottom feeder team in the West? Dude is 27 (bday is tomorrow), why does he come to a team that's at least 3-5 years from seriously contending. Jump ship now in your prime to maybe win one at age 32? I wouldn't think that way if I were him.
There's got to be a reason why Magic is Magic Johnson. PG maybe expecting him to pull some strings here and there. 3-5 years. We'll be in the playoffs the moment PG decides to transfer, guaranteed. #6 seed tops. He never missed the playoffs his entire career. And I don't think he'll start so playing for his hometown. This goes exactly along the lines of what I mentioned many pages back regarding we have to be careful not trade away our young guys for PG13 because even with him we're still in playoff purgatory for a few years and wouldn't be considered a real contender. Why not try and get PG in Summer of '18 where we can sign him outright if he really wants to be here. Then by 2020 Moz and Deng's contracts will be off the books and if we already have PG13 and our young players will already be that much better entering their prime years we'll be so much better prepared/set up for the future. Yes PG13 by 2020 will be older but we won't have lost many of our young, upcoming players. I just don't want to see us be like the Memphis Grizzlies where a few years ago they are young and in the playoffs but don't really have anything to show for it because they went up against the Spurs and GSW type power house teams. Look at them now and Randolph is falling off and Conley and Gasol are getting older by the year. Their windows are closing.
Magic was coming for Larry again and Larry didn't have the energy to fight with him over PG. Maybe that's why he really quit.
His statement about PG in his exit presscon has a lot of subtexts. I'm guessing PG being hellbent is really happening with or without him. Sent from my E6533 using Tapatalk
I mentioned something similar with regards to Butler maybe 10 pages back. I would love to build a team around him and PG13. This team would be so versatile offensively and defensively.
If youre agreeing with his logic, Pg13 wouldnt come here in 2018 either, unless this team made it to at least 2nd rd of playoffs
Damn I had my hopes up, still it can happen. We need to eliminate money from the equation. Homecoming, everybody wants to go home, that should be the narrative.
