Yeah, that dunk last night got me up off of my chair and that usually doesn't happen now.

Wes has been Great! Except for the Corner airball 3 against teh Wizards. That would have been huge

Now youre starting to tell hes playing for a contract lol... Solid job though, and though he takes those random 3s when he feels like hes somewhat hot, I suppose you gotta like the fact its usually an open shot and hes confident/not scared to take it.

As someone who absolutely sh***ed on Wes Johnson last year, I have to say I am liking the dude more and more.

He seems to have really bought into his role and improved the things he needs to do on offense. He's hitting jumpers and getting buckets at the rim. He's had a nice few games and if he can keep up this level of play I don't mind him starting for us. I know he's in a contract year but I hope he's just improving as a player.....finally.

Great game Wes and that one handed defensive catch/steal was amazing. Just please can you keep this up a little bit and actually stay consistent. I know you can play this well every game but I just hope he can keep hitting those open shots he's getting from our ball movement and or Kobe.

Just a note to the powers that be............ It may be time to change the description at the top of this thread (Has he got even better? jk) Wes is not getting worse.

I know he will still have bad games again, but that 3. I started to have confidence in it every time he shot it. Maybe he borrowed Nick's Swag for the game. The one handed defensive catch/steal as BattleTested20 described it was stunning.

Wes every now and then will blow your mind with an athletic block, rebound, even his jump shots are super athletic. He is moving away from some of the heady Kobe footwork plays and just playing cleaner and simpler. Point blank if he can refine his game and not overcreate than he is a keeper whom we can use next year. I think this guy is tougher than we think, especially if he read some of our posts at the start of the season.

It seems to me like he's cutting down on the bonehead plays. He's been a pretty solid contributor for a while now. His jumpshot looks really smooth when he's not drifting. He's worked on the angle of his release so he finishes his shot higher than before which helps with his bricks. And he's getting out in transition and working hard defensively.

He's not COSTING us games like he used to and in fact his shooting last night really helped us win a game. Great job Wes.

Like I said in the game day thread, I really have to tip my hat to him and Price for the improved play they have been giving us the last few weeks.

I am more proud of Wes right though because I groaned every time he hit the floor to begin the season. Now, I am getting more and more confident in him and his ability to play at this level.

The biggest thing is I can now see what everyone initially saw in him. The athleticism and shooting. If he can keep cutting down on his mistakes, his ceiling is a lot higher than I thought it was.

^^ Agreed, Elgin and realdeal. Wes has really impressed me lately. He's turned it around. I never questioned his ability - only his head. I was on the verge of giving up on him as I wrote in this thread, but seemingly right after that he started to kind of put it together. 3 and D, play the passing lanes for steals and transition baskets. That's his focus now and he's pretty much right in the pocket. He's playing well. And props to Scott for sticking with him. I think he's the right kind of coach to reign him in and help develop him.

Yes, if he continues to play like this, re-sign him. Chances are he'll still likely receive the minimum (maybe slightly more), and he could be part of this team moving forward. However, he's better suited coming off the bench. We still need that upgrade that SF position with a starting caliber one...

Wes has been playing some great basketball. Anyone know his 3pt percentage? I feel everytime he shoots from down town he always drains it.

He has been very consistent, which is all I want. I have no reason to hate on him lately, I've actually enjoyed his play for the most part.

I'd bring Wes back. He has played on cheap contracts his whole career, and he's probably worth $2-2.5m per season as a bench player. We can afford to spend on a player like that if we're getting the effort and durability he offers now. He's missed only 3 games the past two seasons.

That's how I feel lately. Wes has been playing much better than I expected be cause I gave up on him a long time ago. Good for him and I hope he keeps it up. Still, he's not a starter on a really good team IMO. It would be nice to sign him for cheap if he keeps this up, but we're still in need of a replacement for him in the future.

No, he's definitely not a starter. As a relatively cheap bench player, he'll do.
