Zu is going to be so much fun watching develop. I want to see some inside out play to see what his instincts are there. I am guessing pretty good. We need a little diversity in our offense.

His lack of mobility/quickness defensively on the perimeter is and will a huge pb ( same thing for Jokic btw).

He's talented and has good potential but I'm way less optimistic than some posters here about his future .

Best case scenario imo : a solid 20 mins backup on a contender

That's what a lot of people said about a 24 year old Marc Gasol in his rookie year...

Yes this!! Zu is 5 freaking years younger than all star Marc was when he came into the league. Best case "20 mins as a backup on a contender" ?

Not sure about 20 mins backup, but I agree that this board values him a bit too much. Especially in today's NBA.

I don't think a 20 minute backup is the best case scenario. I don't think that at all.

What's not too value about a center who can finish in a pick and roll, has a decent jumper, and protects the paint?

And for Zu's size, he runs the floor extremely well.

I'm not saying a 20 minute backup is his ceiling. I was saying I don't believe that. What I'm saying is some people on this board value him as much as everyone not named Ingram or Russell. He's a solid player, and I think he can start on a championship team, but you've got people on this board saying top 5 center in two years! I mean, that's a little far fetched.

Two years, sure, that's far fetched. But 4-5 years down the line when he's in his prime, he could surely be up at least a Top 10 center in the league.

Keep in mind that prior to being drafted, he really didn't get much playing time due to being on a senior team and an injury.

You don't see a lot of kids with his sort of drive to develop at such a young age. He has taken strides this year in his development and is already adjusting to the NBA level of competition. We've only seen glimpses because he's only been getting sporadic minutes as well. Once he gets a consistent amount of playing time, I think he'll definitely show more of his value.

    m. gasol's memphis teams have been very good defensively at times. zubac is as mobile as he is. there are ways. will he get there? i have no idea, but it's way too early to say he can't possibly get there.
