btw, doesn't it feel like hinkie's back in the saddle here? the sixers have a mini-renaissance and then they move two of the key players involved (ilyasova and noel) while picking up more dead weight (centers) and low picks. if the ct scan went well, they'd almost certainly keep simmons out anyway.
^the dead weight doesn't matter IMO. They need to adjust their personell to their rotation. Ersan played very well for them but with Simmons and Saric the future is set. Noel, Okafor and Embiid was also too much talent for a 3 man rotation. Splitter will be the 15th guy and Bogut will be the 14th guy for about 2 months and they won't care if they are happy with it. They are both gone in April. So this "OMG 76ers are piling more centers" is kind of overblown. With that said, I'm surprised they couldn't use Noel to sign a good guard, because thats their biggest need. Its kind of puzzling.
Sixers have the worst luck. Embid missed his first two seasons and may not even finish this season. Of course now Simmons is done for the year.
you focused on a small and fairly inconsequential part of my point. the point is that they jettisoned two guys that were helping them win and got very little in return. the defense that "this is all about the future" sort of reinforces my point. are they EVER going to care about what's happening now?
It is the basic rule of supply and demand. Their are only so many 7' tall people in the world at any one time, and 4 out of 5 of them are goofy and cannot run or catch a basketball. Once the 70 centers have all the non goofy 7' players center, they can trade a center, any center for a star player of another position and create an all star team. Sacre for Harden? Sure says the Rockets. Lebron for Yi? Fo sure. Trust the process.
Awful news. I don't even like the guy (I have no feelings on him), but I'd rather everyone be at 100% and we see their best.
