wish i could transplant ingram's mentality to russell's talent.

anyway, was glad to see someone finally shamed ingram with film of him getting a step on defenders only to have his layups blocked from behind--that throwdown is what he needed to be doing all season long. good that he's getting confident enough to try to finish strong.

that play in the first half where he swatted faried's put-back attempt by coming from the other side of the paint was cash money. how many young players have the presence of mind to do that? saved a bucket and got faried looking over his shoulder instead of constantly being the aggressor.

Once he gets a couple of years and 20 pounds on him, look out NBA.

He has great instincts. He just needs strength and experience at this point.

Ingram could take the Leonard route...be a more rounded player at both ends. They have the same demeanor. Quiet, unassuming while playing to kick butt.

I don't think Leonard has the same disrespect from the refs like Ingram does, BI is being murdered by defenders when he drives and get no calls.

I agree he's not getting the calls he should, but rookies rarely do and he's not selling the foul. He's trying to show he belongs and act tough, but a little acting would go a long way. Refs favor the little guys. Use that.

I love that he's willing to take and create contact, but for a guy his size he can use the refs a little too. I don't want to encourage flopping, but make sure they know you got hit at least.

Would you encourage doing what Harden and Lou do by extending his especially long arms to create contact and draw fouls?

Yeah I realize I'm skating a fine line there. I don't want him using those reach out fouls. Honestly, as an athlete I prided myself on defense and those moves are bush league to me. It's not a real foul and you can't realistically defend that sort of nonsense.

Still, he gets a ton of contact. He needs to make sure the refs realize that.

After watching Paul George against us, I couldn't help but be thankful that we don't really have any player who flails for calls. Lou and Nick a bit, but that's it. I love seeing Brandon play the way he does. Those calls will come in time.

He can campaign by talking to refs on the court rather than resorting to "selling" calls.

i don't know man, lou may not flail per se, but he's maybe the second biggest ref-baiter in the league (after harden, who is the moses of ref-baiters).

i think if he starts finishing more with dunks (like last game), refs will start to expect him to convert, and thus start blowing whistles when he doesn't. these are (extremely, unfortunately) fallible humans making these calls. they watch games, and other outcomes most certainly factor into their calls. once ingram establishes that he in fact can finish, they'll start wondering about instances in which he doesn't. right now, he's the skinny rookie who can't hack it.

    In November.

honestly, he had a nice 5 game stretch in early January, but yeah, he's struggling to find his way out there. I still like his defense. Consistent all year. He really knows position / angles and his length helps. Big surprise how good he is defensively.
