I like Ingram as much as anyone but to say he will be a "Top 5 - 10 player" is going out on a considerable limb. Not a knock on his talent, skills or upside, but more so how difficult it is to be a Top 10 player in this league. Bleacher Report did an article a couple weeks ago about their Top 25 players. The Top 10 was Westbrook, KD, The Brow, Lebron, Harden, Curry, Kawhi, Butler, Greek Freak and Paul. Left out were Boogie, Kyrie, DeRozan, Klay, Lillard, Blake, George, Wall, Hayward, Kemba, Towns, Wiggins, Love, Whiteside, Draymond, Lowry and others. Obviously this is completely subjective and lists will differ between people but no matter what the list, it takes an elite talent to crack that Top 10 and aside from just being really really really really optimistic, there isn't anything yet to suggest Ingram will be in that group in the future.

He's 19. He's working with Brian Keefe (gym who worked with Durant) as an assistant on our staff. He's a hard-working individual and has superior physical gifts that you can't teach.

Is it going out on a limb? Yes, but I'll stand by it. He's going to be a star, IMO. Sky's the limit for Brandon.

I'm not going to get on a kid for not being too verbal at 19. That's not a role he should have to play yet really, and as a SF.

We have one kid who is verbal, and he gets trashed because he doesn't know when to shut up.

Face it. Laker fans will never be happy unless we're competing for a championship. None of us are in our happy place right now, and it's been years. Just when we started to get some hope with a 10-10 record, we then go ahead and lay a HUGE egg. Admittedly, it's discouraging.

Even though I am a huge Ingram guy, I'm not ready to go out on that limb with you.... yet..... but I love the optimism!

    I blame Kobe.

    1. verbal and backed it up and then some...
    2. willing two-way player
    3. incredible work ethic and dedication
    4. showmanship
    5. an element of luck (Shaq, Pau, Phil ... )

This is an impossible standard to be measured against, for our youngsters.

His offense isn't concerning to me honestly. The majority of his looks are good ones, he's just not converting for some reason. I don't know if it's energy, but it's not ability or intellect and those are the two major problems. Ingram is smart, talented, and self-motivated. I see a small jump from him next year as his body matures and then a big jump for him in year three as he starts putting it together.

Ingram isn't a PG, but he's got serious guard skills. He's not a SG, but he can get to his spots. I think Ingram has legitimate Kawhi traits and it's a matter of whether he wants it or not, not whether or not he can get there. Out of our young kids I think it's completely fair to say Russell and Randle talk a big game, but neither of them have the maturity to improve themselves. Clarkson has regressed. Nance Jr. is a ton of heart, but his ceiling is becoming clear. Ingram's ceiling isn't clear to me at all and while he might not be a #1 on a great team, I see no reason why he can't be a #2 on a great team. I see no reason why he can't be the guy who has #1 talent, but maybe not that mentality.

By the way, I said he didn't have that mentality watching him in college and therefore he'd never be Kevin Durant. Tooting my own horn just a bit, but the reason he won't be Durant is not because Durant is much more talented (Durant is better), but because Ingram doesn't have that mind-set. Ingram is much more about the team success instead of making the shot. I find that valuable in a kid today especially given our other kids.

Maybe I'm overconfident in his potential, but of all our young players, Ingram has me the least concerned. All the tools are there, he has incredible length, he's already smart on offense and defense. He's just really young and skinny, we all knew it was gonna take time for him to adjust, and that he didn't have the NBA ready body to be something like RoTY right away. Once he puts on more weight, gets a few years in the league, I think he's gonna be great. I don't know why his shot isn't falling right now, but we know he has a good shot, I believe it will start going down in time. With Randle I'm seeing signs of his ceiling, Clarkson already appears to be who he is gonna be, and Russ becomes more or a mystery due to his lax attitude on the court, but I'm just not worried about Ingram at all. Bad games are no fun to see for sure, but standards around here for 19 and 20 year olds may be a bit high, especially due to, as pointed out, these guys following 20 years of Kobe Bryant.

I hope his shot isn't like Sasha's with everybody raving about how good a shooter he is in practice but couldn't convert in games.

Whatever else you want to say about Sasha, he hit 37% of his threes and 88% of his Free Throws. He even shot over 39% on threes in three separate seasons in the playoffs. He has the third best single season 3pt% in Lakers history. He has the second best FT% in team history and the 7th best TO% in team history. I mean, give him some love.

If this were DAR I'd be "whoa..wait a minute" but I don't feel this is out of line with Ingram. Optimistic? Sure, but how often do you see a kid come in the league with his skill set and vision. Ballin' the right way is in his blood, he's almost a throwback in that regard. While DAR and Randle are worried about their individual positions as stars Brandon just wants to play the right way. Lamar Odom's jumper didn't happen for a number of years and that's who I see as a low-end projection for Ingram, Odom. Granted BI's younger and playing less minutes than Odom's first season but I'm sure the exit talk with Ingram this summer going to be about offense and getting a bit more aggressive there.

All I care about is these 2 beauties at the end of game 7 vs the Pond Scum. This alone earns Sasha free beer forever in my presence.

It's being optimistic; some would say outright delusional. There's a lot of great players in the league and to be distinguished as a "Top 10 Talent" is a heck of a feat. I know that.

Nevertheless, I was higher on Russell at the beginning of the season, but Ingram has flipped my stance.

I am very high on him.

    Load of crap. I don't want a top 10 talent. I want a top 10 player.
