We need to trade mozgov and Deng they are worthless, they don't stand out as leaders..... shoot Derek Fisher can come back from retirement and be a better veteran leader for a quarter of the price. Start the youngins Dlo/Jose JC/lou BI/Nick JR/Nance Zu/black
As much as I wish we could, it will never happen. The last time we see Deng and Mosgov on a Lakers roster will be the last regular season game in 2020.
worst f***ed up ever by Mitch, even with his transaction history like Shaq for Brian Grant, Butler, future picks for Nash, Bynum for crap.

Only time Deng and Mozgov will have any trade value is the 2019 offseason when they'd be the proverbial expiring contracts. Otherwise we are probably staring at two older, mediocre and ridiculously expensive backups. If Ingram/Zubac aren't starting sooner than later, something seriously went wrong.
Unloading expiring contracts have been nonexistent since the Gasol trade. No one will want those two unless they can send over their trash. Unfortunately Mosgov and Deng will finish out their contracts here. I do not really care about the money, its not mine, and its the Lakers, they have more money than they know what to do with. Its the hope that it doesnt hinder their chances cap wise in getting who they want. Because the young guys will be wanting their pay in the next few years too.
My point wasn't that they'd have much value as expiring contracts. My point was that is the "only time they will have any trade value". Expiring contracts are still tradeable, if only just for salary filler purposes. New York used Calderon's expiring contract in the Rose trade. Cleveland traded a pick to get Korver but they needed Dunleavy's expiring contract to make it work. It's likely Moz and Deng finish out their contracts with the Lakers but I wouldn't treat it as imminent because they can be used as part of a trade. Although it's not our actual money that the Lakers are spending doesn't mean we shouldn't care if the team spends frivolously because the contracts of Moz and Deng are hindrances on the Lakers' salary cap and preventing them from improving, whether via free agency due to losing cap space or potentially being unable to keep all their young talent when they hit free agency. Russell, Randle, Nance and Zubac all hit free agency before the contracts of Moz and Deng are done.
Can protect the rim....automatically makes him better now. You can tell opponents are having to adjust their shots when they get into the paint, unlike moz who they just attack without hesitation
Zubac already has improved light years in the first 3 months. He will be even better by the end of the year. By next year, even if he doesnt start, he will play an intrical part of the rotation. No further than year 3, he will be the starting Center for the Lakers.
Although I really like Zubac, this is why more than the eye test is sometimes needed. I'm hyped about what he can become, but he's not it yet. On/Off Numbers 116.6 points per 48 allowed vs. 113.8 when he's off. 55.2% eFG% allowed vs. 53.8% when he's off. Meanwhile, Mozgov's numbers: 113.9 on / 114.0 off. 55.0% on / 53.1% off. Opposing teams score more and shoot best when Zubac is on the court, and teams shoot the worst when Mozgov is off, but they score the fewest points when Zubac is off.
There's a little more to these stats as well though right? Like the team he's playing with or the team's he matched up with? Can you tune those stats to the FG% to the paint?
Zubac has 2 double-doubles and 2 games of 3+ blocks in 14 games played. Moz has 1 and 0 respectively in 48 games. Lakers need defense. I'd like to see more Nance + Zubac on the court.
@lakerfan2 Zu's P&R defense is still a work in progress, but he's a very good rim protector and IMO has way more upside than Moz ever will. We're not a playoff team this year, so giving Moz big minutes doesn't make much sense. We need to invest in our potential assets.
While i agree with your pt, this is going to make it 100x more difficult to even try and trade Mozgov and that was already a difficult task to accomplish prior to Zu's emergence
