I was thinking about the very slow and unathletic Deng for a minute then I remembered he used to play for Thibs who overplayed Luol and others in Chicago .

Thibodeau stealing some years of Deng's career ( think Noah too) by playing way too much may be a good explanation of how bad he looks for 31 years old ...

its not going to take a month or two to get this guy back to shape, he's not going to look anything like he did in Mia. I'm willing to put a big sum of money on that.

I think no one believes he will live up to that contract. It's a bit unfair to expect after all of the mileage on him from his old coach. Hopefully he's a solid vet that gives BI time to develop.

lets all be honest with ourselves guys.....anyone who thinks Deng came here to win, mentor, be a role model is kidding themselves. He came here for 72 million reasons. Prior to the season starting, IMO no self-respecting vet as old as Deng would sign here for any other reason than money, PERIOD. Everyone is using the "mentor" Ingram angle because thats all we got.

I don't have the energy to defend him right now. Is yall criticism fair of him based on pay? Sure, I guess but look at what some others like nick/Lou/ young bucks are making so it's not a burden on us.

not pay, production to pay. If he made $5mill with his current production no one would complain.

Sometimes it takes vets a while like in other sports(baseball might be the est example) to find their niche and be in mid season form.

The offense isn't ran through him, seems like he's asked to be a catch and shoot guy in our offense... his shooting has improved last several games, heck whatever;perhaps keep throwing poop at him to keep the good juju coming lol. I'm not writing him off yet and every time I watch I don't see a liability. Think y'all too caught up in the money.

honest question, do you think we'd have this same record and same type of uptick on all the players w/o Deng?

Luke see's it, if you don't think he does you're kidding yourself but he like you and others who still hold out hope for Deng don't want to look desperate or dumb since Luke probably asked mgmt. for Deng so obviously it isn't going to happen soon but it will happen this season, I truly believe that

Of course. As a Cowboy fan, I look at Deng in the same way I look at Romo in a way. Yes, Romo is making a TON to be a backup, but because of the production we get out of Dak, we can take it without effecting us. Deng gets paid a ton to play very few minutes and give us poop. But we have Young and Lou Williams making a combined 12.5 million and giving us a TON of production. We can afford to have a Deng on our roster so long as we have two veterans outplaying their contracts by such large amounts. Besides, we all knew that if this Laker team was going to get out of the position we're in, Deng was only going to start for one season. If Deng was our starting sf for his whole contract, that would mean Ingram was an enormous bust.

I don't think its the same, better scenario would've been Romo coming back and getting his starting job back and sucking terribly and is allowed to continue to start after say maybe week 4-5. Which at that point I would've assumed most people no longer thought Dak performance was a fluke. BTW, I"m not a cowboy fan but go COWBOYS, I got a $50 tkt on them to win SB before season started, pays out $900!!! was merely throwing money for fun and was bout to tear up the tkt after Romo's injury and than Dez too lol, but dam Dak/Zek is your new Troy/Emmit

Oh. I know it's not the same situations. It's why I said in a way. I'm just saying we can afford to have empty money on the roster as long as we are getting such over achievements in other places.
