I don't think Jimmy Buckets making 11 shots at the rim has a lot to do with getting in rhythm from the FT line ....
He went to the line 6 or 8 times in the first. I do think their trips to the line had a lot to do with the performance.
lakers need to stop with the shooting fouls prior to the bonus, for sure. i was watching the spurs last night, and their philosophy seems to be to foul the crap out of the opposition off the ball in order to muck up the offense, but stay away from shooting fouls early. refs generally can't be bothered with grabbing, bumping, and holding off the ball, and will eventually tire of calling those fouls anyway (see jerry sloan, hubie brown). luke is well aware of this, as well as its offensive counterpart (mastered by gs) of setting moving screens like crazy and daring the officials to stop the action every trip down. key: none of these result in fts the first five times you do it in a quarter. hell, the moving screens never do.
can he start double teaming "stars" now? Its pretty obvious this team can't handle defending the elite stars 1 on 1. Westbrook is going to put up monster TRIPLE double #'s tonight if he's being defended 1 on 1 by dlo, jc, lou, etc.
It doesn't necessarily have to be a double-team. It can be trap on a drive or a side-line blitz too. But we definitely can't do 1 vs 1 against superstars.
That was a awesome win god damn it feels so good to just get wins again, even if we win just 35 games it feels so good not to tank anymore. And remember we have 1 max slot for next year and if we end up getting 35 - 40 wins or by a miracle we make the playoffs who knows who would be willing to sign with us when they see are team able to get wins and have a ton of young talent.
Luke does the Phil Jackson thing of sticking with his rotation time almost no matter what. It makes me nervous some times, but man is it effective most of the time.
Regardless of the playoffs/no-playoffs - we are getting a reputation now. A good/great one. That and MONEY will get someone like PG13 in here (in 2018?). P.S. We don't need solid guys anymore. We need a superstart to make us GREAT AGAIN!
That's interesting you say that. I have the feeling watching and he has said in interviews that he will ride the hot hand, plus he seems to make good adjustments for matchups often. That' my impression anyway. Phil was much more stringent in his minutes played for each guy and in his rotations.
@2:15 "I told the guys, it's us and the Spurs are the only two teams that have beat them, and we beat them last, so they're probably the ones that are a little nervous right now as we get ready to fly up to Oakland." *Media laughs* "That's funny?" I know that's probably just a joke, but it's great to see Luke's confidence in the team and I think he might have some insight into the mentality of GS. If we can split these next two games, I'll be ecstatic.
came in to post this as well. joke or not, gotta love the confidence and luke's influence on this team. players definitely talk, and I can only imagine how many of them will want to come to LA during free agency. Luke, weather, women, a young talented squad - what more can u ask for??
Yeah. That supposedly temporary 3 year surtax on the wealthy in the state supposedly all for the "children" just got bait and switched an extension to 2030 with the claim on the commercials, "no one's taxes get increased".
