What I love about this is that Luke builds Randle up and THEN he calls him out for a lack of consistent effort. You can accept constructive criticism from a coach that you know values you, sees your strengths, and is committed to drawing out of you your best.

It's one thing too holding people to the same standard, but a lot of times you have to reach out to people differently even if you're trying to get the same result out of them... You don't have to go to college to understand this :)

Bill Walton is lucky hes a good and funny dude cause we shoulda whooped his behind for telling Luke to hold off from the job cause he didn't think we were good enough...

Guess he's still a blazer and C bag at heart though we gave his son millions lol .

He didn't realize we had as much talent as we had, no guarantees on keeping our pick nor how well we'd do in the draft if we did. Maybe even he didn't know how great Luke was going to be in getting the best out of everyone. Vs the guaranteed great position he was in on the stacked Warriors.

This was great and 35 minutes of Luke answering questions. If you have time definitely check it out:

:SadPau2: ..... See, I say to Kobe afterward .... this was crazy way to pick Lamar up with just his one arm and Kobe say something about "big boy pants". I look over at Ron and he just going :Crazyartest:. Then I get back to bench and Phil punch me in the chest. :SadPau2:

Mitch and Jimmy Boy hit a HR with this hire. Absolute, tape measure, walk off HR. I was thinking solid double at the time and hopeful we could drive in the run. exceeded all of my expectations.

He has Nick Young playing defense. That alone deserves Coach of the Year.

Wow. That 2nd clip above, sponsored by Toyota, with Luke fielding questions from fans and Trudell is Golden.... to go with the Purple of course. It's 34 minutes but if you can find the time to kick back and do it .... highly recommended. Great questions and great insight from a great guy. Tells it like it is and lots of fun to hear the answers.

With him acknowledging again what a huge influence Phil was as a coach, along with all of the other great basketball influences in his life, I am again struck by a seemingly fundamental difference in the way Luke handles his rotations. Phil went by choice only 8-9 guy rotations when he could, and the minutes given to starters vs bench players, 6th man, etc were pretty much etched in stone. Luke takes advantage of the fact we are deep and will go with less minutes for the starters and run 10 guys every night.

But from what we've seen and he flat out says, and the team understands, is that on a night to night basis he will ride the hot hand / who is playing the best to give us the best chance in that particular game. Said for instance if he's ready to pull Nick out and all of a sudden he buries a couple 3s and is playing great, he will tend to leave him in another couple of minutes. By same token if he has someone on a hot streak with their offense but can see they are starting to get tired on defense, he'll pull them. And expects the guys now on the bench to fully support those in the game.

I love this guy as a coach as much as I disliked him as a player. That is extremely high praise.

Loved him as a player when he was healthy and the health is why he declined to where he earned his nickname with the "P" in front. Like you say he is so good, and vital to our future now it seems almost sacrilegious to spell that P word out.

i always liked luke as a player; thought he played to the limits of his physical abilities, maybe beyond. i don't think i ever badmouthed him online in that regard. i value high hoop iq and team play, and it's why i'm not part of the angry mob asking for deng's head and why i don't get why jared dudley's teams' fans always hate him.

jr smith, lance stephenson, even nick young...they frustrate me more as a fan.
