As much as I admire his desire to come back, he should definitely retire. He's got his rings, he's made franchise player money. Relax and enjoy life with the family Chris.
When you're one of the greatest athletes in the world capable of making 25+ million dollars a year, I'm sure it's very difficult to give that up. It's who he is. Athletes very rarely know when it's time to retire, but it's even harder when it's too soon and you feel good. I feel for him. I don't feel sorry for him, but I feel for him.
He has close to 80 million is guaranteed salary on his contract and has made enough money to not put his health on the line. I don't care if you are competitive, love the game or whatever...you have a family you have to put first and take care of. Very irresponsible to put your health on the line. Retire and enjoy the rest of your comfortable life.
It's such a shame that a talent like him is probably done, but it could be worse, this could have not been caught and he could have died on the court. He didn't though, so I don't get why he's pushing for the opportunity. He has 5 kids, move on to other endeavors and don't risk leaving them fatherless because you want to play a game you no longer can.
is it too much to ask for him to play one game, just to screw the heat financially in the short term?
Wow. After they do him this way, hopefully something in his health situation improves and he is able to play 25 games or more in 17/18 for some other team.
i really can't understand why players would want to go to miami. riley is ruthless and self-interested above all things. they do not have a reputation for taking care of their guys, imo. i suppose they did right by zo to some extent, but not in the best possible way. everyone else is treated as chattel. i wouldn't go there if i were a star player. it does seem the tide is turning in that regard, though. players are starting to eye SA and have long eyed dallas, largely because both organizations have strong reputations in terms of player relations. gs has become that way of late, i think, too. i think the lakers should have some credibility there, too; maybe it buys us something soon.
