Do not like that he jumps so far forward on them though. At least go straight up. Kobe even from there had some backward lean if he needed it. Crazy. But this is how JC is practicing them and no one seems to be dissuading him from doing it.

Wow. Hope the staff has some real defensive chops to work with these guys this year. (surely Luke has that covered with this large staff). Am still flummoxed with Julius seemingly learning zippo, nada, nothing from freaking (Ron Artest) after practicing and playing with him for a full year last season.

Awww screw it. Had to be this chimp ..... errr ......chump of a leader.

Artest was a good man to man defender and just has those natural instincts defensively. Sure Artest can teach Randle to play man defense well but systematic defense is where Randle fails and its gonna be hard to teach him that.

I didn't get the impression though anyone thought he was playing good or above average for a rookie man to man. Could be wrong.

“Offensively, I feel like I’ve grown. But I want to play the right way,” Clarkson said. “I felt last year a lot of times I wasn’t playing the right way and that causes us to take tough shots and our field goal percentage goes down. I’m happy Coach is here preaching moving the ball and getting easy shots. That makes the game a lot easier.”

[IMG] negative reinforcement methods such as telling Jordan in April if he didn't play better D his playing time would go down, and being macho about the kids not knowing what it takes to win all last year instead of any reported great "teaching" efforts.

sirron's fecal artistry has stolen the thunder of a good piece on clarkson. really like his improvement over the first two years and his seeming continued willingness to improve further. i think he gets overlooked because of the other guys' potential, but he's still the best player on the team right now. and he's young and getting better.

We know what we'll get from him offensively, and we probably don't need him to do what we had him doing during his rookie year with all the offensive weapons we have now. Where he needs to improve is defensively. If he can do that,he and the team are going to be in a great place.

Completely agree. I'm really looking forward to seeing what he can do now in Luke's system.

hmmm...not starting 1st preseason game. luke says it's about having youth and athleticism on the second unit, but the second unit has nance, ingram, and black already, right?

i know many of us have expected that clarkson would be ideal as a sixth man, but i wonder how he'll take that at this point. he has every right to believe he's the best player on this team at this point.

I'm ok with him proving it. It's about fit. Maybe the 2nd unit needs the athleticism too?

Think Iggy at GS not starting. Not the end of the world.
