Well .... LOL ..... baby "Big Stud" steps here. I just can't wait to see what is going to come from Zubac when state of the art trainers and coaches have their way with him, molding him to be waaayyy beyond what he already looks like at 19 years of age. I see a better Marc Gasol in his future with a little bit more of brother Pau's skills and finesse thrown in. I mean come on it's not nuts to see that as a possibility.
Just one correction: his name is not pronounced ee-VEE-tsa. It's EE-vee-tsa. Just say it fast, accent on the first "I" (EE).
just looks like a puppy out there. so much of this is correctable if he's a hard worker. let's hope. if he is, it could be huge. footwork is something that doesn't necessarily come naturally. there's not sensible time in other aspects of life for the development of a drop step or an up and under. these simply have to be drilled. i mean, i suppose if you have a martial arts background? but then again, dj mbenga was a blackbelt and never had good footwork on offense... in any case, there's a chance for coaching and practice to correct zubac's shortcomings, and that's not true for many players. and his advantages (size, agility, touch) are unlikely to erode soon. i'm cautiously quite optimistic.
Agreed. When I see him, I don't see a guy with a a lot of limitations. The only true limitations on him are probably athletic, but other than that he's smart, long, and talented. At only 19 there's just so damn much going for this kid. The only thing more impressive to me than his high ceiling is his high floor.
Where Kareem had exquisite wrist motions on his shots that won't be there like that for Zu at an undetermined level, or Cap's elevation off one leg ...... he "does" have already great finesse with the rest of the shooting motions and a great feel with his soft hands and the "english" he's putting on shots as needed already. He's going to be huge and move about terrifically with his level of coordination shown already before the trainer's even touch him.
He needs to have the flick of the wrist to get that good rotation that Kareem got, and he used his legs to power the shot. Zu just kind of hoisted it up there. He'd have to work on that to make it work in a real game setting.
Agree... It was more of a windmill motion on that shot plus he was obviously just messing about. Zu did have good extension and follow through.
This kid could end up being a bit of a steal ..... like what he brings to the table and his enthusiasm.... seems like he will be very coachable, has some touch and good timing when it comes to help defense and rim protection. Should have some time to grow and learn from a competent big in Mozgov.... I really like the pick.
