in other words: just dnps in general (injuries or otherwise), as they're not factored into the denominator of the ppg equation. let's say durant is limited to 4 games next year, but he scores 40 each of them. the rest of the team is going to put up 100+ points all year long, but if you just add averages, you'll get an ungodly number. as for clarkson/mccollum: cj is a much, much better shooter, and this matters. he's like a mini-rip hamilton with handles. clarkson is a different sort of player. in terms of impact, cj is bigger due to how much attention the defense has to pay him off the ball (is the newfangled term "gravity"?), but yes, i'm not sure it's "double the annual salary" better.
100%. CJ's ability to shoot opens up his above average handles getting into the paint. If Jordan can make a decent leap in 3PT% this season, he'll have a similar impact though. CJ lacks the explosiveness that lets Jordan get to the rim mostly at will. If Jordan could get to say 36% or even 37% from the line his game is going to open up big time and people are going to look around at why he's only getting paid 50 million compared to the Evan Turners, Evan Fourniers, and CJ McCollums of the world.
really like his shooting form, actually. i'm a bit surprised he doesn't shoot a bit higher percentage. regarding the other players in his talent and/or price bracket, i don't think evan fournier is actually much better than clarkson. he's a little better shooter and...that's really it.
You can really tell jc bulked up. He looks strong out there. Hopefully that's going to help with his defense
He's said that one of his primary goals this off-season was becoming a better shooter and it certainly looks like it's working. His release is smoother, repeatable, and more importantly very quick and natural. I think Jordan envisions himself in the Klay Thompson role and if that's the case, he's going to need to be a much, much better shooter than he's shown thus far.
Thompson has a hair trigger release borne out of constant reps...probably the fastest I have ever seen off a catch and shoot. Clarkson will be starting at the 2 and wants to stay there obviously. He should model his defense after Thompson's more importantly.
Absolutely. Clarkson's main goal should be to increase his defensive ability. Bulking up should help with that. I love the look of his shot right now though. I think he's going to be an absolute steal at 50 million.
