Thank you. I would have thought the PPG would have been slightly higher. Between him and the statistical projections you provided for Russell, that's a productive backcourt, IMO.
Allen Crabbe is making 18 mio. a year for 10 ppg and 2 rpg...just saying how absurd NBA contracts have become.
I don't think I'm going out on a limb when I say that's highly unlikely for next season from any of our players.
Russell will lead this season in scoring then Randle then Clarkson... Averages to be determined but the disparity between the first two should not be notable.
Am I one of the few that wants Clarkson moved to the bench for a more of a longer and more scrappy of a defender? I just feel with Russell,Randle&Deng starting, Mozgov who will get some easy looks as well, I'd make more sense for Clarkson to come off the bench to be our relentless spark plug whenever we need it. If that would occur, id actually be really interested in seeing Clark,Lou,Ingram,Nance& Black/Zu. Calderon was a dump anyways, so not like we're obligated to give him minutes. In fact, I wouldn't be surprised if he's included in a trade.
Randle won't be second option imo. I'm thinking it'll be Russell then Clarkson, and then ingram and Randle at around 10 a game. Those placements assume equal growth from all players not one player nearly doubling his ppg while another slightly regresses.
You so crazy... Russell - 20 Randle - 18 Clarkson - 15 Deng - 10 Mozgov - 8 Bench - 30 low 35 high [fair enough IMO between Nance, Williams, Twiggy, Calderon, Black...] Young legs, new offense... 100-105 points per game.
Possible...but Randle will have more touches this season since Walton really likes his talent and wants to take advantage of it in his schemes. Clarkson will get his as the third wheel working off the attention the other two will attract.
With 24 gone...the ball will move more. Russell has a working relationship with Randle to begin with so I see the former looking more to him as a security blanket. 15 is realistic as we see how he can be inefficient with his shot making. It could be different as Randle confirmed he's been working with a shooting coach to maximize his attempts. As physical as he is, there could be an uptick for him in chances at the charity stripe too.
On topic: Clarkson is better suited as a starter just because we already have Williams as the designated scorer off the pine. I would believe he will still be his dependable, solid self through the season. If anything other than scoring his assist per game could go up by at least two to three more in this space and pace offense.
Depends who we get to man the 2 spot opposite Russell. It has to be a bona fide starting caliber player at that position. I don't see anyone from therealdeal's list that is that. I see where your thoughts are at since it has been recently posted that the Lakers are sitting tight to target an unspecified player.
Depends on how Walton wants order and flow established... I don't think he would want an imbalance between the low post and perimeter aspects of his schemes as our backcourt do not have the Splash Brothers kind of talent. Yes, Clarkson's shot attempts will go up this season but so will Randle's. One factor in your projections is that the former is more efficient plus he won't get the same type of defensive coverage. Russell and Randle will be the first two options on offense...
Julius and Clarkson averaged 11.3 pts and 15.5 pts last season, respectively. Julius doesn't deserve that 2nd option role. Not yet. Jordan is a better scorer by quite a margin.
