I'm an Okafor fan too. Those hands!!! I doubt Zu ever develops the low post game Okafor has, and will continue to refine. But defensively and stretching the floor, I'll put my money on Zoobaca.
I want to get excited about Zubac, and I know there are legitimate things to be excited about. But I will try to keep my expectations in check when you consider we have a 5 game sample size.
Poor man's Al Jeff? If anything I think he's a rich man's Al Jeff. At the same age Al Jefferson started just one game in Boston and averaged just 6.7 points/4.4 rebounds to Okafor's 17.5/7. Okafor also averaged more blocks and steals. I don't mind admitting it's likely Okafor is Al Jefferson, but if he's Al Jefferson, he's a better version of Al Jefferson.
Dominant Defensive player, game changing intimidation, nice touch around the rim, not a fouler, uses length both sides of the court, nice vision... if you are not excited about these, you don't like Laker basketball
He has great touch around the rim, needs refinement but if he can work with Kareem.... *drolls* He has range. Can rebound, if not then he keeps the ball alive. Doesn't foul while defending. Doesn't go for every block, selective and smart with his challenges and doesn't send it into the crowd. Mitch must have Jedi mind trick this one.
No, man, Bynum was the last of the great big man. Cap's post game is obsolete in today's NBA, unless we have a young Kareem playing his view as a big man will only hinder Zubac. IMHO of course
Hard to say.. He's only played 5 games against Summer League level talent, but he's very refined for his age & especially for a 7 footer.
Bynum put up great numbers in high school, but his senior year, his team didn't even win a playoff game. I'm not even sure he liked basketball. He worked hard, developed a nice game, became an all star and was a big part of us winning 2 rings. But at that age, based on a small sample size, I'll give the nod to Zu. NOTE: Bynum averaged 1.6 ppg and 1.7 rpg his rookie season. If Zu stays healthy and can transition to the speed of the NBA game, I think he'll put up better numbers.
Zublocka has won me over- can't get mad at a kid who just wants to play the game, and with so much confidence at that.
Holy s*** guys this kid is good. And he's only 19 and is nowhere near his peak, that blows my mind. He has touch, shooting, great hands, is a rim protector, gets put backs, always tries to box out and he's a nice guy. IMO His floor is NBA starter and his ceiling....very good. I'm really liking the possibilities with our young squad. The last 3 years were hell but good lord we've racked up talent because of it.
One more thing to add a smile to everyone face...at one one draftexpress mock draft had the clippers picking Zuu @25
