Uh oh... let the Russell/Ingram for Westbrook rumors commence.

Haha I purposely didn't mention him out of fear that those rumors would start to spread. That being said, I agree with you and the others who mentioned in the FA thread that the max I would even consider offering is a combo of Russell/Randle.

In fact, I sort of think even that is too much. I truly believe Westbrook won't give any team he's traded to an assurance he'd re-sign, and will approach free agency 100% open to anything. That leaves the Thunder with very little leverage in negotiations, due to the high risk of teams trading for a 1 year rental.

That's true. It really depends on the whims of Westbrook. If he says he's not assuring anybody anything, then nobody wants to get Dwight Howarded. In that case, I give up only Russell in discussions. The C Bags probably counter with one or both of their Brooklyn picks...

Brandon said he bought his mom a house after he was drafted. Must've gotten a big check from Adidas since we haven't even signed him yet.

Weird that I don't see this one the first page of the forums. Only got in here because I saw the link in the Summer League thread. I knew we had one for Brandon.

better game but teammates (especially Russ) were not passing to him when he is open. Russell was waving off Ingram and passing to Anthony Brown of all people.

He needs time. Hopefully the Lakers can get him on a good diet/exercise plan over the next couple of months after USA Select. It's clear he's going to be really good, but his lack of strength really hurts him at this level. He's also still adjusting to the NBA three. I'd honestly prefer he just take a step in early in the game just to get good looks that he's prepared to knock down. He'll get there, but he'll probably need a year or two just like D"Angelo needed.

For what it's worth I still think he'll have a better career long haul than Ben Simmons.

    D'Angelo Russell, Lakers: B

Russell had mixed results in the Lakers' loss. On the plus side, this was probably his best game in Vegas as a playmaker. Russell had more good passes than his four assists would indicate, making the right read when the Cavaliers trapped him off the pick-and-roll. The downside was Russell's 3-point shot no longer dropped. He missed six of eight attempts beyond the arc and scored just 19 points on 20 shot attempts.

    Brandon Ingram, Lakers: B

Oddly for a player who shot 41 percent from 3-point range in his lone season in college, the weakest part of Ingram's game this week in Las Vegas has been outside shooting. He finally made a 3 after missing all six he tried in his first three games, but finished 2-of-7 beyond the arc. Still, Ingram showed ballhandling and playmaking skills that weren't evident at Duke, connecting with center Ivica Zubac on an alley-oop and pulling off an impressive in-and-out dribble in transition before missing the layup. The Lakers used Ingram at power forward with the second unit, a spot where he could be effective as he adds strength.

Probably was a directive to see if Brown can get untracked offensively... Same s**t.

Some commentary from GT on LG:

'I thought tonight was his best floor game of the Summer League. He didn't shoot particularly well, but I thought he had the most "right plays" of any game so far. And he continues to impress defensively. I really think he's going to be an above average defender as a rookie, which is absolutely incredible for a guy who will be a young 19 at the start of the year.'

Also, said he'd like to see more of the 1/3 pick in roll; he said it netted Ingram 2 open three-point shots.

^Defensively, he's been very good. The long arms, anticipation and timing are all there.

I'm still upset we're spent four games trying to get Anthony Brown the looks that should have gone to Ingram.

It was a negative possession every time because Brown won't make the shot AND we're missing out on potential opportunities for Ingram to shine. I know it's not in the kid's mindset to demand the ball, but he should have and when he didn't we should have forced him into it. He'll never learn if we're not giving him the opportunities he needs, especially at the expense of "Black Hole" Brown.

I don't want to see Brown much this regular season if he continues to shoot like that. We still have some cap space. I hope we could find a 2/3 that could shoot or absorb into our space.
