Wouldn't it be funny if hypothetically Zubac were part of Westbrook trade and turned out to be another Marc Gasol?
Zubac needs to find a way to be effective playing against small-ball. If he is...he has a bright future. If not...he will be in trouble. I think he has a lot of work to do. It remains to be seen whether he has the work ethic or not. He also needs to be careful with the coaching staff...he has a temper that he needs to control.
Burly Gasol really improve when he lost his baby fats. Zubac looks svelte compared to Marc at his age.
I thought he practiced yesterday. Maybe they were just running around shooting layups and s***? There were photo's of him in his shorts with the thick, solid legs.
He said at his interview session that he didn't get to practice much. I'm guessing he was just observing.
Zubac will be fine. He's a little clumsy and has to adjust to the speed of the game, but he's a decent athlete and can really run the court. His effectiveness may be limited if teams go at him in pick and rolls, but I still think there is value in a low post game. I don't believe that part of the game has diminished yet. There just aren't many low post guys because everyone is obsessed with shooting three's. The Spurs proved that last year. They became a low post team again and they didn't even have what I would call a dominant big man. Aldridge is good, but he's no Shaq. Not that Zubac is, but we can still put his post skills to work.
He will. I love this pick. Hopefully he blocks everything in sight... his catchphrase should be "No one scores when I'm around!" yeah even his own teammates lmao I hope he is committed in his craft, in his third year, I think he can share starting duties with Mos, full time after Big Timo is gone.
Mitch and the Lakers must really like this kid. Last year Anthony Brown got a three year contract starting at 700K (now 875K). That's 330K less than what Zubac got which is almost 50% of Anthony's contract...
