Meh. He came back to earth his last couple months here, couldn't hit a shot. I don't see him as much different than Wes.

Wait, we've got 15 players though. Who's getting cut?

I like Earl Clark, and I'll root for him if he comes here, but I'm pretty confused by the move. He's obviously a Forward, and Scott has recently voiced displeasure with Boozer. This makes me wonder whether he's coming in to take more minutes away from Boozer. I support that, but I want to know why we aren't bringing in a PG.

BTW, Clark's game in the D-league is not what we need here. He's shooting at Kobe levels 23+ FGA/game, nearly 9 threes per game, with unimpressive FG%. His game from when he was in LA - rebounding, hustling, blocking shots - is what we need.

yeah, surprising given that a) earl clark is a pf and b) the lakers already had an extended look at him.

you'd think they'd look at positions of greater need (sf and pg) first.

well, that's if they were really trying to win, which they're not.

So, no Quincy Miller, Roscoe Smith? Interesting. This move surprises me. Oh, well. Given or limited resources of what we have to work at at this point during the season with FA's, I guess this is the best we could hope for at this time.

If it's a year-long deal then someone is getting cut right now. Who gets cut? My money is on Xavier, but why get a forward?

    I'm not understanding this move.

What the hell happened to Gal Mekel?

Yeah, but then we're thin at PG again. There needs to be more than one cut here and I thought they'd go with Quincy Miller over another Forward we've already seen. I like Earl and he played well for us, but I don't really get this move.

So, basically, we'll roll with two Wes Johnson's?

Hahahahaha. Funny, but so true. Maybe between the both of them we could get a full year of consistent basketball...

Clark is better than Wes on D, I think. Or at least he's a better help defender.

Ok, I am utterly lost on this move. I loved Earl while he was on fire for us, but that was kind of short lived. Why do we need another PF? We need a wing and we need a better PG. What's so hard to understand about that? FO has me totally befuddled.

Better help defender, yes. But overall... I don't think the difference is huge, honestly. We actually have to start playing team defense, and for that to happen we need some defensive schemes.

Maybe they plan on giving him backup SF duties?

    Kobe/Young
    Johnson/Clark

If Clark can kind of recapture what he did for us in that strong stretch he had, he could be worth it. He's not as dumb as Wesley and a better cutter off-the-ball...

I'd still really like to see freaking Mekel though. What happened?

I like Earl way more than Wes. Way more.

It does seem like an odd move at this time though. Can't imagine we will cut a pg.
