Maker and Papa were both shockers. Papa apparently had several other teams interested, so he wouldn't have come off the board soon. Valentine is a very Chicago-y pick.
With all those Picks, Boston should've got an easy A. Hard to blow it with the 3rd pick and 8 picks overall, but they are. And I love it.
Levert could have give upside, but Nets gave up a very solid starting forward for a big time injury risk.
at Jalen Rose paying no attention. This is the second time he's gotten confused about where a traded player will be playing.
I would've loved Skal at #32. Shocked he dropped to #28. Buddy Hield and Anthony Davis are a great pairing. I think Buddy's gonna be better than people expect.
Don't know how Boston screwed this one up. Maybe spent too much time trying to trade instead of scouting and planning. Besides our own picks my favorites has to be Dunn to Minny and Hield to Pelicans.
Seems Boston lost the day, and maybe the Kings following behind them. Jaylen Brown may be good, but it seems a stretch at 3 because of his shooting concerns. They already have Marcus Smart, athletic but can't shoot, now they have the SG version of that.
seems like bos could have traded down for brown. i suppose if he learns how to shoot, he could be a force. but it's going to take a kawhi leonard-like transformation in that regard.
Man, what was Sacramento thinking last night... come on Vlade! Only way grabbing all those bigs make sense is if they're planning on unloading Cousins.
So let's do it then! Winners and losers? Winners: 76ers- Hey! They made it through a draft without picking a Center! The Sixers leave with a tremendous physical prospect in Ben Simmons, a nice wing prospect in Luwawu, and a solid young project guard named Furkan Korkmaz (probably the best name in the draft). All of these players to me are NBA guys and while Simmons is the only one who projects to make a big impact right away, I think all three of them are going to fit into an interesting young cast they've got brewing over there. Lakers- Obviously. The Lakers had only two picks (only even though that's the normal amount...) and they hit home runs at each relative spot. Ingram has been touted by some as the best prospect in the draft. Zubac was a great pick at his spot. Obviously we know and will discuss all that. Nuggets- Murray, Hernangomez, Beasley, and Cornelie is a tremendous haul from this draft. Murray gives them a really good partner to Mudiay. Hernangomez is a talented forward and if Beasley stays healthy he was a good pick. Cornelie is a guy I liked and can make an impact. Really solid draft. Lesser extent winners: Spurs- Get a good player in Murray. Dammit. Warriors- Get a good Ezeli replacement in Jones and a decent project in McCaw. Hawks- Reached a teeny bit for Bembry, but he's an NBA player. Losers: C Bags- Holy crap what a horrid draft. They almost had Butler, but instead they reach for Jaylen Brown when they could have traded down. The cool thing about Brown is how he is far less skilled player than Butler. Then the reach on Yabusele when Ellenson, Davis, Jones, and Labissiere are on the board. Then the reach on Zizic when Labissiere, Jones, and Davis are still on the board. Then they finally make a good pick in Davis and immediately trade him away to Memphis along with another pick. Their sole really good pick for their draft position was Demetrius Jackson who could be kind of a Nate Robinson small-but-athletic guy. Ben Bentil is a decent pick, but nothing to write home about. All those picks and they didn't do anything with them. Ainge fails again, but I'm sure nobody will call him out on it for some reason. Kings- The Kings traded down in the draft away from a good PF project so they could get two Centers. TWO CENTERS. WHAT THE F***. Being a fan of that team must be the worst. Bucks- They used the 10th pick on Thon Maker... I mean. He seems like a really nice guy, but that was a reach by about 20 draft spots... Trade down! What are you thinking?
