He is going to be an absolute beast in the next 2-3 years and should be even better next year. Julius just continues to put in the work
He's a jump shot and a right hand away from being unstoppable. Combined with an already well developed Clarkson. Russell who really came on in the second half of the season and looks to be much improved next year. Then a guy like Bender who is so skilled. We have ourselves an excellent young core.
You guys all should stop with this Bender nonsense. I am starting to worry. The guys is going to be a bust (relative to the hype/draft position), I am almost positive about.
To get to where we need to go (title #17 and beyond) you've got to have at least one guy who is absolutely unguardable. Among our 3 young guns, I think Randle is the closest to being that guy.
Yeah and what's scary is Julius still has so far to go in terms of offensive game. D'Angelo is the most skilled. Clarkson is the most consistent and most well rounded threat, but Julius oh man the kid is scary good from a talent stand point. He's like a truck coming through the lane and he's got that dog in him. All three of them do.
Yeah something that we don't talk about much, but all three of these kids have had their individual clutch moments. I think they all have the ability to make the shot and make the right play late in games. D'Angelo had the ice in his veins and the Minny game. Jordan had two game winners in his rookie season. Julius had a game winner against Miami but I remember there also being statistics supporting him as our most clutch player.
Ingram will be the unguardable guy. He should be able to get his shot at any time once he gets a little seasoning. That's not to say that others may not end up being unguardable, but of our 3 plus Ingram, Ingram seems like he will be the purest scorer.
I don't expect Ingram to be able to create much for himself his first season. His best asset should be catching and shooting early in his career which could open up the drive and dish or one dribble pull up. As time goes on and he puts some weight on, his ability to stride to the rim is going to be great. I'm also not sure he has a pure scorer's mentality.
I did say with a little seasoning. I think he has a scorers mentality. Just watching a lot of tape on him, his length will allow him to get any shot he wants at pretty much any time. Steph Curry is out there having to figure out how to shoot over Lebron and other people significant;y taller than him. Ingram, if he continues to develop his 3 point shot will just be able to rise up and shoot over just about anyone at the sf position much like Durant. His ridiculously long strides can have him from the top of the key to under the basket in the blink of an eye. Not saying it will happen, but if I'm putting money on which of our 4 will be the unstoppable scorer, I bet on Ingram.
I don't see Ingram being that guy either. I see the Durant comparisons because he fits the physical profile with a similar skillset. But what he lacks is Durant's athleticism. Julius has a natural advantage in that regard. Once he develops his right hand and a respectable J no one can stop him.
I'm not denying his ability, but his mentality. @trodgers has brought up before that the comparison to Durant makes sense physically and somewhat in ability, but he differs a lot in mentality. Durant wanted to take every shot and do everything himself. Ingram hasn't shown that. That's not an indictment either, he just likes making the right play and the extra pass instead of forcing a shot like Durant would be prone to. We'll see though. Ingram could end up being the most multi-talented.
Way I see it next season... Julius - 15-10. D'Angelo - 15-5. Clarkson - 18-5. Bender - 7-7. Nance Jr - 8-8. Pretty good offensive balance between the young guys.
I'm a bit surprised with your projection of DAR. I thought you rated his scoring ability higher than that. I'm also surprised you have Ingram as our point forward.
