But he has the record for most assists in a game. That takes grit.

One of the team's younger players Fournier was pissed that Skiles left.

The reality is Skiles hated Payton and didn't want to play him. The franchise told him to shut up and do it. He got fed up with it and left. I don't know what other players he could or couldn't relate to besides Payton, but Fournier liked him.

No doubt its an impressive record that I don't see being broken for quite some time. But he just seems to hard nose for a coach. Always frustrated and angered look on his face.

I'm sure he's a great human being, but don't think he should be an assistant coach for our guys.

I'm trying to demonstrate how different the types of shots guys get in this type of offense. Below is a comparison from 2013-14 to 2014-15, about how often players took a shot with 3+ dribbles.

That should make things easier for Russell and Clarkson this year. Per GT

Here it is, for the guys who handled the ball on the perimeter. Brutal.

Not surprising at all. Our offense was predicated on pick-and-roll that went no where and isos on the perimeter. There was almost no ball movement and even less man movement.

That's why we look a lot like what Mark Jackson's Warriors looked like.

Not surprising. Steph was spectacular and a superstar even before Kerr got there and installed the motion offense. After it however he became the greatest player in the game and had a historically efficient season. Obviously Steph deserves most of the credit because he has just an unreal amount of skill, but that offense gets him so many open looks. He moves so well without the ball, they set so many great screens, have so many different options within their actions, and the ball rarely sticks and neither do the players. Will we be anywhere near as good? No we won't, but I believe Luke is gonna use D'Angelo in a similar fashion. Also if we get DeMar I believe he'll be more much efficient and effective than in Casey's iso offense. GT brought it up at LG and I 100 percent agree. If you get DeRozan on the move off curls, off back door cuts, as well as split action he is such a good finisher that I think he'd really excel.

Poaching Warriors’ staff might be Luke Walton’s best option; how about Kara Lawson on Warriors’ bench?
Posted on May 15, 2016 by Marcus Thompson

Luke Walton, who signed to take over the Los Angeles Lakers, is waiting until the Warriors’ season ends before he gets his staff together. So it must be a little difficult for Walton with all these head coach openings and fillings.

Will any of his options be left? Walton can’t guarantee a spot on the bench until he nails a top assistant. But he also can’t tell some of his desired candidates to wait for him. That would be unfair to them.

According to a couple sources with knowledge of behind-the-scenes scuttle, Brian Shaw is on Walton’s short list. But what if Nate McMillan calls him to Indiana? Does he wait or take the bird in hand?

In the end, the Warriors’ assistant coaches could look that much more desirable for Walton if several staffs end up filled by the time he is officially a Laker. Which means the Warriors are likely going to need at least two new assistant coaches next season: Walton and whoever he poaches to join him. The smart money is on Chris DeMarco, the Warriors assistant coach of player development.

Here is an idea: Kara Lawson to fill one of the Warriors’ openings.

[IMG]Lawson — 13-year WNBA veteran, Olympic gold medalist and ESPN basketball analyst — wouldn’t be the choice to replace Walton, obviously. But if any franchise is fit to continue the trend of providing women with opportunities, it’s the Warriors. If there is a staff qualified to embrace a woman coach, it’s Kerr’s staff.

The San Antonio Spurs made history by hiring former WNBA star Becky Hammond, who had developed a relationship with head coach Gregg Popovich. The Sacramento Kings hired women’s basketball legend Nancy Lieberman. But with five head coaching vacancies — and six filled since the end of the season — a lot of assistant coach spots are open. Which means a lot of opportunities to give some fresh blood a try.

Lawson, the basketball junkie she is, might be interested. But she is a rising broadcast talent at ESPN, so maybe not. She would make a lot of sense on some team’s bench, though, given her experience in and understanding of basketball. She is young, 35, and deserves as much of a shot as any of the other video coordinator/player development types who get in because of connections.

Maybe the next woman is not Lawson. Maybe the next team is not the Warriors. That’s fine. But lots of people are getting a chance. Here is to hoping some of those are women.

Yeah I figure DeMarco is coming with Luke for sure. Hopefully Shaw waits and we can scoop up whichever head coach ends up without a job.

Welp, here's to hoping that Luke's lack of understanding of how and when the lottery takes place won't matter anymore!

Grest news to hear if I am Luke. I want this transition to head coach for Luke to go as smoothly as possible, and that is the responsibility of the Front Office to ensure doing so and adding more talented pieces to the roster. Yesterday was a fantastic start.

Interesting Knicks hire out of nowhere. Wondering how their fans are reacting to that news...

Vogel will end up in Orlando. Houston still has a coaching vacancy, and I believe everybody else has a head coach.

Another name mentioned by somebody smarter than me: Adrian Griffin as an assistant. Coached under Thibs. Has a solid reputation as an assistant .

Griffin has been interviewing around. Scuttlebutt is Houston is going with D'Antoni which makes a little sense, but not a ton of sense. Harden is a ball stopper and likes to drain the clock.

Orlando and Memphis are still open I think. Vogel and Orlando are a good fit, but we'll see. I'd love to snag a few of these head coaches.

Arrrrgh .... that has to suck for Luke not being able to see in person but has to be. I hope Shaw wants to come back to P&G. Gotta also trust in Kupchack and West. Ryan learned from the best. He was the one who picked up and drove young Kobe to his legendary short workout for Pops back in the day.
