Well deserved, incredible season, and clearly the most valuable player to that team, one of the most exciting basketball players I've ever watched.

Curry is having the success I thought Durant would be having right about now.

Good for Kawhi for getting some recognition. He is a beast.

I also see that Westbrook/Durant are starting to have that Kobe/Shaq effect where votes start becoming divided between the two.

Another Curry first. After last night's overtime record points first after insane season 3 point shots made record ..... today confirmed 1st unanimous MVP vote in history of the league. If you need it....

Stephen Curry is the NBA's first unanimous Most Valuable Player

    https://www.yahoo.com/sports/blogs/...unanimous-most-valuable-player-163722426.html

What he did last night with the timing of this news, coming back from no real game activity over couple of weeks or tune up prior to this tough playoff game, and starting off ice cold with his shot ..... kind of reminds of Kobe Bryant dropping 60 points and scoring last 13 in waning minutes of 4th quarter to bring the team back to a victory in his last game in the NBA.

That had to get him on LeBron's list if not already.

It's funny because he essentially had the same season this season as last year's. Yet, last year he finished with 2nd most votes.

On crosstalk Ireland, Wiley, one of the Kam brothers, and Mason were talking about the unanimous aspect and brought up a great point: the only reason this happened was because voters are being held accountable for their vote now. You can no longer vote contrarian from behind a computer screen or writers desk.

If this was true years ago, I'm sure votes would be different. By the way Shaq and Kobe each deserved a unanimous MVP at least once in their careers. Still, good for Steph for being the first. He was preposterously good this season.

I don't know who the bet was with... I have an awful memory but I made a bet with someone that Russell wouldn't finish in the Top 3 in ROY votes... that's coming soon... I found it weird we haven't heard that award yet... I did find two things from NBA.com that talked about First Team All-Rookie honors and the Rookie ladder.

In that first link NONE of the ten or so guys they asked had Russell in their 1st Team All-Rookie winners...
In that Rookie Ladder link Russell was a distant SEVENTH on that list behind Towns, Okafor, Porzingis, Winslow, Jokic, and Booker...

    I still have a shot!

It was with me. You're right, i'm freaking screwed! Damn Byron! Russell was easily the top 3 rookie this year when the offense wasn't:
    1. Sit on the bench because you don't undrstand how to play gritty.
    2. Give the ball to Kobe and get out of the way.

In March when he knew he wouldn't be benched and kobe was out, Russell was a beast.

I have no idea what LeBron is saying there. He keeps debating "best" and "most valuable", yet he continues to make sure to say Curry deserved the award. Maybe it's my bias, but he sounds whiny, jealous, and like he still wants to get his credit for being either the best player in the NBA still, or for being most valuable to his team, not sure which. Either way, shut up, LeBron.

Lebron is semi right but there is a hint of pettiness in his comments.

We've argued ad nauseum back on clublakers on the criteria for mvp. The nba awards the mvp award based on the best player on a contending team, not necessarily the best player in the league or even the most valuable. That is how Derrick Rose, Steve Nash and Allen Iverson won mvp's, while Kobe and Shaq each only have 1. The NBA also loves a good story.

So Lebron does have a point but it just isn't applicable with Steph Curry. Curry is the best player in the league right now. He's doing things that just haven't been done.
