Wow. Just freaking wow. For as bad as Byron was, I respect Mitch and Jim even more for not going this route and taking shots at Byron. Stay classy, Larry.

I'm not sure what more you can ask from a head coach. Vogel always seemed to overachieve with a depleted roster. Bird is an idiot.

hopefully vogel's past ties with the lakers organization help the team out in luring him to LA

The Pacers are rebuilding IMO. Hence why Bird let Vogel go and won't consider hiring McHale. I'm anticipating PG eventually being shopped around.

Vogel probably wanted to talk to Larry about avoiding a rebuild. Bird told him no. I could be wrong, but that's what I'm seeing.

Interesting read on it. I'd read somewhere on twitter that Bird was upset with Vogel for not pushing harder to force George to play some four so that they could play uptempo. He was also upset that Turner never seemed to turn (pun, sorry) the corner until late in the year.

Bird was pretty adamant about making the playoffs and going deep, but who knows? We'll see how it all unfolds. I've certainly got my eye on George and if they go through a rebuild, he's not going to want to stay and you can bet Mitch will jump on that phone right away.

I saw this. I don't think MacMillan gets the job, but Shaw might. If Shaw takes that job, I hope we can snatch either Vogel or MacMillan out of there.

I don't see why they'd want to go full rebuild. They were playing great to end the year and have promising pieces like Turner and Hill.

I don't think he wants to go full rebuild. I think he felt like the team needed a new voice to go the direction they want to go and pick up tempo. He felt like Frank wasn't their guy. Interesting times to be a coach. By all accounts he did a great job. Bird has very high expectations. They might not be reasonable given the roster, so he sounds like he can be a tough guy to work for.

Out of who is out there, who will they find to replace him that's better? That should be interesting...

And we shouldn't. Much better seeing the guys he jerked with all year and ruined their season by just being a crappy coach .... tossing him out is perfect. Not Luke's axe to grind. And good seeing Jim and Mitch. Awesome sirron!!

LMAO, this is freakin fantastic. Every face is perfect, Nance looks giddy, Russ has the tongue out, even Jim is smiling. Mitch looks like the mob boss calling the shots.
