I'm ok with missing on brooks and thibodeau. the former hasn't really proven he's a good coach, and the latter concerns me with his star-riding. beyond that, I think both are at points where they need ready-made rosters (not sure wash is a great fit for brooks, but most things are a step up from wittman--that's a lakers type coach (kill me)). I don't want to see any more Kenny atkinsons go off the board prior to Byron's deposition.
And the most important move of all. http://espn.go.com/nba/story/_/id/1...rs-byron-scott-another-franchise-worst-season
Sounds like they're just hiring him as a last ditch effort to control DeMarcus Cousins. Ewing is another one of those old school guys. Doubt he'll be as horrific as Byron, but not sure why they wouldn't take a look at Messina.
Well firstly, they can try to talk to Messina, but unless they crank out a ridiculous amount of cash they won't get him. Secondly, Ewing hasn't had a head coaching job before. How do you know his methodology? I like him. I hope he gets a shot somewhere.
I'd be surprised if he left the Spurs for some junk team like the Kings. I could see him leaving for a decent team though. The future is so hard to predict, you've got to take opportunities when they come! Just ask Luke!
Ewing has been trying to get a chance for what seems like a decade now. I know he was really hurt he didn't get legitimate consideration for the Knicks gig years ago. I don't know if he'd be any good. Typically big men don't make for good head coaches. But I know there's been some hires (like Scott) who are worse. He refuses to give up on his post playing dream. I admire that and would like to see what he could do. I think the Sac job would be a bad spot. If you're a coach going to coach Cousins, there's no reason to unpack your suitcase.
I don't get this at all, Vogel is a good coach. Jeff Van Gundy today made the point on the Dan Le Batard show that the NBA got calls wrong at the end of this game and now people's jobs are on the line. He said something like Vogel might get fired and (whoever it was, owner or GM) is on the other side kissing Dwane Casey on the head. They make that call DeRozan shoving Mahinmi, or they call traveling on DeRozan with 6 seconds left, the outcome is possibly different, and the coaching situations reversed. The NBA said they got these calls wrong, and yet Vogel's job is on the line.
