With the new season not far from us. Only a couple of months away and a new era in Lakers basketball set to commence with a new voice in the locker room. There's a lot of young talent on this basketball team combined with veterans who have earned respect around the league both as being quality players and as leaders as well. Bottom line there is a lot of reasons to be excited.

Is there a particular opponent you're looking forward to seeing these Lakers facing off against? For me it's an easy choice and it's the Warriors. Yes I know we'll likely get dismantled like a lot of teams playing Team USA 2.0, but I'm looking forward to seeing Brandon face the guy he's idolized and been most compared to in Durant. Steph and D'Angelo will also be a fun matchup. Steph is clearly the best PG in the game along with Westbrook and obviously Russell is one of the guys many including myself expect to be one of the top point guards down the road. Then of course there's the Luke factor who knows the...

khmpr posted a thought-provoking list of player contract value. It showed JC had the worst valued contract of anyone making 10m+. That seems wrong to me - even if I don't think it's a great value. So I came up with a few ways of making sense of player value.

Gross Value
Just add up all the points + assists + rebounds a player accounts for. This is a very rough approximation of how much a player contributes. It doesn't account for efficiency and defense, but it's good for eyeballing players.

Value Value
Using the VORP system, simply divide value over replacement player by how much you're paying the guy. That's what you're paying for - it takes into account gross value in a way, it's comparative rather than absolute, and it includes defense.

PER Value
Subtract PER of counterpart from PER of the player in question. This creates a "PER differential" that can then be divided by 48 (MPG) times total minutes played. This shows how much PER the player generates over...

Pretty cool in my opinion. I don't listen to their shows often (I prefer music when I'm driving) but something about watching radio shows on TV is always more engaging. I won't watch it all the time, but I'm often stuck at home with nothing to watch, so having the option to occasionally tune into a 5 hour block of TV programming that largely focuses on Lakers discussion is going to be nice.

Hey everyone,

I wanted to post this here so I can get as many votes and comments as possible.

I'm thinking about creating a trade and sales section for LB where you can all trade or sell Lakers and NBA related merchandise to each other in a style similar to Craig's List.

Once a transaction is completed, each member would be able to make comments regarding how a seller/trader performed, and rate them. LB staff however, would not resolve any disputes or issues with any transaction in this area of the forum for legal reasons. Staff would only moderate as we would in any other section of the forum. Any issues with transactions would be between the two parties involved. We would simply allow a section of LB for two grown adults to come to an agreement on sales and trade of Lakers/NBA merchandise.

I want to get as many opinions as possible before I decide whether to do this or not, because I don't want to waste money on purchasing this software if members won't be using it.

Please...

I won't copy any of the actual content since it's really worth reading IMO.

Wow, how anybody came to the conclusion that lowballing young Shaq was a good idea is really beyond me. Especially considering that not-so-tiny ego of his. Good for us, long live Jerry West!
