Yeah, I've only listened to the album once but I got most of that. During the last track, it was like "Cool, that's a pretty neat twist that he was telling the story of one of his friends the whole time."

The only issue is that it's not a particularly interesting or unique story. He's not telling it in a creative way and most importantly it's executed over boring music and subpar lyrics.

Just finished Ab-Soul's project. I had first listened to the first 5 or 6 tracks on Thursday night but then had to go to sleep for work and then listened to Cole's album on the commute. That might also be part of why Cole's project disappointed me. What I had heard from DWTW already was so unique that Cole came across as even more generic.

The production is crazy and I love all the vocal effects and different flows that Soul uses. Lyrically, it might be the best album of the year in terms of intricate wordplay. This is a really dense album and I know I'm gonna need to listen to it a lot more, but I found the overarching philosophical themes pretty interesting and thought provoking.

Listened to Gambino's last album finally. It was interesting, but disappointing.

Still haven't heard any of J Cole's album besides the one about Kanye which I liked.

Got to work on Ab-Soul now too.

There's not enough time in the day.

False Prophets, strangely enough, isn't on the album.

Kid Cudi is dropping his album tonight. I'm cautiously optimistic.

Still gotta listen to Post Malone's debut album "Stoney" too. It's been ripped apart by critics since he has no lyrical skills or interesting subject matter, but I think I'll like it. White Iverson is so dope.

Whoah, this is definitely Cudi's best project since his MotM albums. If you're not a fan of Cudi, you might not like some of his lyrics and the way he sings/moans on a lot of tracks, but damn the production is so good that it's hard not to vibe to this album. Reminds me a lot of Kanye's 808's, but a lot more positive.

Also, Gambino killed it with this live performance.

I can understand not caring for the direction he chose to go in musically with this last project, but there's no denying that Donald Glover is one of the most talented dudes out there.

Been listening to the album a bunch more actually and now that I'm over it not being a rap album, I appreciate it a hell of a lot more and yes. He's insanely, incredibly talented.

A new Zack de la Rocha verse on RTJ3 was probably my favorite Christmas gift this year

I liked Lupe's last album and I've heard good things about the singles for his newest album, but I'm probably gonna wait till the album drops to listen to them. Honestly though, I just have a feeling the album is going to be a letdown. Lupe was saying that this next album, "Drogas Light" is just to get out of his contract with the record label so he can release "Drogas" on his own. That's similar to what he said about "Lasers" and that album sucked.

Been listening to the xx album since it dropped. Also really excited for the new projects from Sampha and Big Sean

Not sure how I missed this, but Ghostface Killah had an album in 2015 that I just checked out and it's REALLY good. Him rapping over a live band.

FWIW, I'm not a big Wu fan, but I like Raekwon and Ghostface a lot.

Here is the entire album. Called Sour Soul.

Yup, I really liked it too after the first listen. It kind of has a sample of every musical direction Lupe has experimented in throughout his career. Even some of the poppy Lasers kinda sound that I honestly hated. He does everything so well on here though. Some of the trap stuff goes insanely hard with Lupe adopting some flows I've never heard from him. His verse on Tranquilo is like my life motto. Then the pop sounding stuff later in the album is super well produced and Lupe is still spitting bars with some thought provoking wordplay.

But I guess my rating on this album depends on if he follows up on all his other plans. If this truly is just the "Light" album for the next two he drops later this year, and it's mainly just throwaway tracks from the main albums, then it's an awesome project for what it is. But if he doesn't drop anything else this year or Drogas/Skulls have a similar mainstream/pop sound, I'll be kinda disappointed.
